A blood test for a biomarker known as p-tau217 recently received federal clearance, but it's been unclear whether such tests can accurately predict whether a cognitively healthy individual will develop cognitive impairment—a key symptom of Alzheimer's disease. Now, a study published in JAMA suggests the value of such tests. The study found that unimpaired people with high levels of p-tau217 had a 38% risk of cognitive impairment over the next...

  5. Good morning tooters. I’ve been blooded & now home & chasing my breakfast, only nearly 3 hours later than normal. Sooo hungry, egg 🥚 on toast is my choice today plus hot coffee ☕️ of course. I would normally just have the eggs, but feel the need the need of hot buttery toast as well.
It was a mild morning at 10c & even now it’s not much higher & will only get to 14c. It is also a very wet, drizzly day up here & looks to be set in for the day.
I don’t have much planned for today, it really is the type of day to snuggle down, watch tv & to stay warm under a blanket. Still I might do an exercise class, just because I should & I also have a little hand mending to do. I need to think about what I’ll pack to take to Melbourne on Thursday too.
    Hope you all have a fabulous #Tuesday, stay warm out there 🌻. #Weather #AussieWinter #BloodTest #Exercise #AtHomeDay.

  12. Lab reference ranges aren't one-size-fits-all. Different studies, regions, and populations can mean different "normal" for you.

Health3 now lets you browse multiple valid reference ranges for your biomarkers, see the clinical source behind each one, and choose which to display.

Because your health data deserves context.

  17. 🔬 BBC pretends to revolutionize cancer detection by hyping a blood test that can spot 50 types of cancer, because why not go for the high score? 🎯 Meanwhile, they distract us with a cluttered menu of world politics and travel destinations, like a buffet of irrelevant chaos. 🌍

  20. Good morning tooters. It’s quite a cold morning today & only about 4c even now although the day will be sunny & we’re heading to 13c. Back to minus figures tonight.
I had an early start, out of the door before 7.30am to go for my fasting blood test. Surprising amount of people waiting even at that time, but luckily I was 3rd in line & 15mins later I’m walking back to my car. I obviously didn’t keep the arm bent for long enough because for the second time in my life, I leaked on the way home. Blood 🩸 all down my arm & I’ve made a mess off my favourite & very warm jumper - who cares about my arm 😂. All cleaned up now & jumper rinsed - but damnit, it was clean! Also a nice little purple bruise forming 🙃.
I’ve just finished eating my breakfast & my much wanted coffee & the plan was to do a Balance class, but while I think the arm will be fine now, I’ll wait until another hour to make sure.
    It’s #Friyaaay wishing you all a great day, stay warm. #Weather #Winter #Friday #BloodTest #Exercise

Just imagine a complete disarray of blood spots. Meanwhile, you'll have to settle on my finger instead.
