  1. After implementing an infrared protocol prototype on the badge and succesfully tweaking the frequency to 38kHz (because my Marantz apparently doesn't like the official 36kHz), it turns out that the infrared emitter on the is underpowered:

only from about 30cm does it read my signals 😩 -- not so useful for a remote 😂

    Back to the drawing board.

(BTW: The helpful could use an IR-read-RAW-always mode improvement.)

  2. @davedarko @calisti @timpritlove @badgeteam @renze

The investigation done by @juerd was done outside of our knowledge. Which was not easy to keep separate. I was the only one from Badge.Team going to #WHY2025 and wanted a low profile camp. Just enjoy myself, distribute some stickers and sell #MCH2022 badges for our new foundation.

This all blew up and we had to step up our game. ...

  4. @davedarko @calisti @timpritlove Which would have resulted in final units available in May.

This design used the same pouch cell battery as the one used for the #MCH2022 badge.

Since the #WHY2025 badge was designed by us /( @badgeteam ) under a a CERN open hardware license, this was allowed. Just as it allowed the lead designer ( @renze ) to release an updated version as the #Tanmatsu via his shop.

  8. @scy Last time, at #MCH2022, I rode the freight tricycle borrowed by the deco team from logistics a lot, mostly to move things around, and I have to admit, it's pretty fun (I also borrowed a bike to deliver a message from @ChaosPost once). 😄
I can't tell you about annoyed people because people are basically always happy to see you when you're an angel running an errand. 😁
If you do bring it, beware, there is one path next to water with no guardrails at the edge of the camp.

  9. During all the life stuff happening around, I've come to the realization that #WHY2025 is around the corner, eagerly waiting after 4 years of anticipation! Can't wait to see all the lovely people again and relive some of those precious moments like on my first hacker camp, #MCH2022.

  12. Nearing a #Silice main branch update, testing a5k and it still just works! This is a complete hardware implementation of Another World's VM on FPGA, here running on the mighty #mch2022 badge.

  14. If the Dutch camps are looking for a new name for the next iteration already, may I suggest

    TLD

    Three Letters, Dutch

    #why2025 #mch2022 #sha2017 #ohm2013

  18. I got had the pleasure of meeting Maurits Fennis of @unbinare at @CCC last year and some of the things they talked about have been popping into my head again lately but I couldn't remember how to spell their name and google was giving me no results for "unbinary hacker"
Luckily @mntmn came to the rescue today with the spelling and I ended up listening to a talk they gave at #MCH2022 that was super inspiring:

  20. @jwildeboer @fosdem this is exactly the same for @hackerhotel and events like #mch2022 and the #nluug conferences. Without these events I would probably lose my sanity.

  22. Just came across this incredible BOM view of the #mch2022 badge: github.com/badgeteam/mch2022-b (download and open the html)
This is using the InteractiveHtmlBom #KiCad plugin. Amazing and so useful!

  24. @ascentale @kg6gfq #BikeNite A5: #WeirdBikeMastodon already exists!

Especially at the #SPEZI special bike fair (spezialradmesse.de/) I've ridden quite some weird bicycles, including e.g. a Pedersen bicycle with a hammock-style saddle.

But the most weird bicycles I admire (and actually never managed to ride properly) are the #Flevobike recumbents with their center-pivot steering and front-wheel drive. At least at #MCH2022 I vaguely managed to ride a #Flevotrike, their delta-trike variant.

  25. #a5k news: On the #mch2022 badge you can now select your Another World level.

Thanks to Henri Manson for making this possible!

(video is shortened, loading each level takes a few seconds)

  26. @InfoconDB If i'm allowed more than one.....

#haxogreen I've heard good things, although I've not been myself
    #hacktionlab was nice and small

The Dutch ones that change name every 4 years (grrr) - #ohm2013, #sha2017, #mch2022 etc

  28. @arturo182 A-ha! :blobcataww:

I’m going to use my badge from #MCH2022 in the meanwhile before I get the #CCCamp23 badge :blobcatthinkingsmirk:

  29. a5k: Another World hardware VM on the ice40 UP5K #fpga (5280 LUTs, 128KB spram), now running and playable on the magnificent #mch2022 badge!

Hard to capture, but it looks great. Really fun to play in this format.
