🚀 Breaking news: math is hard, and people have FINALLY realized that triangles in lattices are as rare as good ideas in Silicon Valley. 📉 Meanwhile, Axiom Math is too busy repeating their contact info to actually address why anyone should care. 🙄

🔢 So apparently, math is hard, and the #OpenBSD folks have just discovered that working with different processor architectures isn't like playing with Legos. Who knew that kernel development wasn't just a cozy walk in the park with unicorns and rainbows? 🙄 Keep those exceptions coming, OpenBSD! 🐢💻

🚨 Breaking News: Math is hard! 🚨 Apparently, realizing that a million times a million is a trillion and not a billion requires a lifetime of contemplation and a very old dictionary. 📚🔍 It turns out that borrowing measuring systems from other centuries might not be the best idea for basic arithmetic. 🙄

Just so we’re clear...
Liberal winner in Carleton: ~44,000 votes
Pierre Poilievre: ~40,000 votes
All 91 independents combined: 860 votesYep. Definitely the fault of those dang protest indies, and not the fact that Canadians might just be done with smug performative populism... 🙃

Never mind. There are 20 frosting blobs so we are saying screw it to the “380 calories per serving” and going with quarters…

Serving size “1/14 of whole”
Really? Who the heck can score me a 1/14th slice? How does one even bisect the circle in that increment?

If, like me, you were a Red Hat employee until the Great Purge of April 2023, and you participated in the 401(k) plan for US employees, and you 'rolled over' the funds from that account to another retirement account after your employment was terminated... you should log in to Fidelity to check your account balance now.
Due to the complicated way that Red Hat computes the 'employer match' for employee contributions to the 401(k) plan, they make 'catch-up' match payments in June of the following year (yeah, it's really weird). Mine appeared a few weeks ago, with no notice of any kind. If I didn't have another account at Fidelity I wouldn't have even checked or known about it.
If you had planned to close that account to put it into your rear-view mirror and forget about it, you may be able to now, after rolling out the newly-deposited funds.

More things #brightspace can't do: negative numbers.
The formula editor in the gradebook is already a horrorshow of bad 1990s web design. And now this.
There's probably a workaround.
OK, I just realized that I said "there's probably a workaround" for the problem of a software system used by education systems all over the world that can't handle negative numbers.

Reminder/heads up that Daylight Saving Time hits most North American (among some other) audiences this weekend (March 10) but not our pals “across the pond”. So, for those who “spring forward” this weekend, the show begins an hour later than than your usual time. For we in the Pacific time zone this means a 1:00 pm start. This juxtaposition will be in effect until we re-sync in time for the March 31 #ListeningClub #Vortex

Words not continuing across the page = end of paragraph.
Paragraphs not continuing down the page = end of chapter.
Items not continuing across the page = you have displayed all the items (and are nerfing anything else you have for sale).
It's just so untidy to have jaggies at the bottom of the page when there are more items that could be displayed if TPTB had picked a sensible number to go with the # of columns.
I always wonder what else they've broken.
-
I wish the folks who design page layouts on web sites realized this, because it drives me nuts at least 3 times a week:
* Make sure the # of items per page you display is EVENLY DIVISIBLE by the number of columns you display.
* If you want the most flexible options, pick a multiple of 12 (2, 3, 4). Or 30 (2, 3, 5).
The important thing: if you have N columns and a number of items LESS THAN N on the last row, that's a signal THERE IS NO NEXT PAGE.

They run a horoscope column in my local paper. Each sign's prediction leads with a numerical grade for the day, 1-10, and I have never seen any day land below 6. #MathIsHard
