I really like the Kobo Libra Colour for its flexibility, battery life and Libby/OverDrive integration… but I’m still not sure whether I really need colour in an ebook reader. Here’s my full review!

Another day, another failed attempt to get my Kobo Libra Colour to sync my books in Calibre-Web. <sigh>
I’m very fond of my Kobo; I‘m very fond of Calibre-Web. I just wish they would be friends…
Kobo’s Libra Colour and Elipsa 2E e-readers have dropped to some of their best prices
The Kobo Elipsa 2E is our favorite note-taking e-reader.
Kobo is discounting two of its best e-readers. The *Kobo Elipsa 2E*, a competitor to the Kindle Scribe, is available for an all-time low of $349.99 ($50 off) from Rakuten Kobo and Target. Meanwhile, the *Kobo Libra Colour* is available for $209.99 ($20 off) from Amazon, Target, and Rakuten Kobo. The sale runs through July 10th.
The Kobo Elipsa 2E is my top pick for taking notes while reading. Its spacious 10.3-inch display lets you write directly on ebook pages — whether in margins, between lines, or wherever inspiration strikes — giving you a natural, paper-like experience. While Amazon’s Kindle Scribe supports on-page writing, its tools are far more limited; you can’t freely annotate, circle text, or mark up pages with the same ease. For anyone wanting an e-reader that doubles as a digital notebook, the Elipsa 2E offers a more intuitive and versatile experience.
Kobo Elipsa 2E
The Kobo Elipsa 2E is an ad-free 10.3-inch e-reader you can write on with the included stylus. It offers a whole host of useful features, like the ability to convert handwriting to typed text and a great selection of pen types.
Where to Buy:
$399.99 $349.99 at *Target* $399.99 $349.99 at *Rakuten Kobo*
Meanwhile, the Kobo Libra Colour is worth a look if you want something smaller but still feature-packed. Like the Kindle Colorsoft, it features a compact 7-inch color display that makes highlights, annotations, and comics pop compared to monochrome screens. Although the Colorsoft’s hues are slightly more vibrant, the Libra Colour provides a pleasant, easy-on-the-eyes experience. It also includes physical page-turn buttons and stylus compatibility (sold separately), allowing you to mark up text or jot notes — features that the Colorsoft lacks despite costing more.
Kobo’s main drawback is the lack of native Kindle book support, but it makes up for this with broader file format compatibility and support for direct borrowing from public libraries through OverDrive. Plus, if you don’t mind a few extra steps, you can always convert Kindle books for use on Kobo devices.

In January I bought a Kobe Libra Colour and Kobo Stylus 2 so I could read books with colour images on an eInk screen, and take notes. I've just published a three part review on my #blog.
In the mood for something funny, feel-good and cosy, so Miss Buncle it is!
With #DarkHorseDigital shuttering, I have made sure that I got my graphic novels downloaded and onto my #KoboLibraColour
Folks who use #Kobo and #Calibre, do you have any idea why book covers are in color when in Calibre, change to black and white when uploaded to my Kobo? I have the new Libra Colour so theoretically anything in color should remain in color when uploaded, yes?
Right now the only things in color are sporadic titles that seem random, and then all the titles I bought from Kobo directly.
Hmmm. Been toying with the idea of getting a Kindle Paperwhite for manga. But now Bezos has shown himself to be Trump's little bitch baby, I may go with a Kobo Libra Colour come Black Friday. Yes it's a bit more expensive, but it's colour (Marvel comics) and is fixable ...... and it has page-turning buttons!

Took the plunge earlier today. Going to charge this big boy and load it full of books! 🧡📚
My e-reader won't charge anymore, no matter what cable or power source I use, so I guess this is goodbye. It's only 7 years old - tech just doesn't last anymore, does it? 😔 👩💻
I am now contemplating buying its bigger brother. Not only does it have colour, but it also lets you repair it if anything breaks on it, which to me is a big plus. Anyone familiar with this model? 🤔
How fun and useful is this cover for my Kobo Libra Colour!!

Kobo’s 2024 eReaders are user-repairable
Kobo launched three new eReaders in April, including the company’s first models with E Ink color displays. But that’s not the only thing that makes Kobo’s 2024 eReader lineup unusual.
The company has also partnered with iFixit to offer detailed repair guides and spare parts, which means that users can perform repairs on […]

Kobo’s first color eReaders are coming April 30th for $150 and up
E Ink has been making paper-like displays for decades, but up until a few years ago most of the company’s screens have been black and white displays that support 16 shades of grey, but no color.
That started to change in 2020 when the first eReaders and eNote devices with E Ink Kaleido displays started to hit the streets. But so far most […]

Kobo’s first eReaders with E Ink Color displays could be coming soon
E Ink’s color displays have been showing up in eBook readers for a few years, but most of the devices that have used the company’s color display technology have been niche companies without much presence in the US, like Onyx, Bigme, and PocketBook.
Now it looks like Kobo may be planning to enter the space. Mobileread forum member […]
