Remaining restrictions are I can’t lift > 3Kg for another 2 months due to risk of developing a hernia. No public transport/long travel or crowds unmasked (2 months also).

Got 2 ultrasounds coming up got other potential issues which are unrelated (gall bladder, urinary tract/giant prostate BPH

Update at 4 months: no longer need to wear the support belt, or stockings (Still oedema some days so occasionally still do).

Medications much reduced in number and dose, just the 2 anti-rejection ones, 2 BP ones, one of each a day, statin and another. Doc said may even lose Ciclosporin in time and just take one anti rejection med.

Donated kidney continues to work well with creatinine within normal range. CONTD…

Was always due to return to Poitiers this week for my first weekly 07:30 follow up, but pulled up to Monday because I didn’t like the look of my wound site yesterday (Yellow around it and it wasn’t bruised before).

Better safe that sorry when comes to immunosuppression and possible infection.

Hopefully out today. Awaiting doctor following an ultrasound of bladder, kidneys, new kidney and all related vessels and plumbing. 🤞 Tech said it looked all good.

Most of the way through the exam the machine locked up so badly they had to reset it, fortunately their worries about losing the images were unfounded and it continued on rather than starting again (30 min process)

I’ll be back a week later for follow up which is a whole thing in itself, including home 24hr urine collection which you take 2 small samples of to your appointment. Have to arrive 07:30 & I am 2 hrs away 😩 Luckily I get a free taxi since I am not allowed to drive for a month. Weekly appointments for the first 3 months, fortnightly for 3 months more, once a month for the rest of the first year. Update: Yesterday last IV out. Today double J catheter out; put in to aid urine flow post transplant. Worst experience of pain so far. 3 folks in a row trying. It has a magnet on it which is meant to lock on so it can be pulled out of U know where. No joy twice. 3rd time was a charm using a scope with pincers in it.
Saw dietician after.
AFAIK final thing is a kidney ultrasound and if ok leave Friday afternoon for home.

Still a little in shock as I got the hoped for phone call last night and am in hospital now awaiting a kidney transplant later today. Thought I’d be waiting much longer so it’s an incredible bonus to have this chance before I had to start dialysis. Hope it works out well.
