Recently, I saw a nice infographic showing the existing therapeutic interventions that have been proven to lower hard endpoint in #dialysis.

Nearly half of kidney patients dead as closure of Rafah crossing blocks treatment
There are only 34 dialysis machines serving about 750 kidney failure patients.
The closure has led to the deaths of more than 1,000 patients and wounded individuals awaiting treatment abroad, while nearly 20,000 others remain in urgent need of medical evacuation.

It would be interesting to see how far UVC works in #dialysis units since infections are common cause of morbidity and mortality. Will there also be a favorable impact on cardiovascular disease since it follows inflammation ? Fx size most likely to be similar to what the staff experienced though.

Tuesday I go into hospital to have a catheter fitted into my abdomen for home peritoneal dialysis.
My last couple of blood tests have been the worst ever so feels like it’s just in time to start dialysis around a month later, what a Christmas present!
Feels like I’ve been fighting a war of attrition to avoid this day since diagnosis in 2008, even more so since it seemed imminent back in 2012, so feels quite deflating tbh.

The Israeli occupation forces destroyed all the dialysis machines at al-Shifa Hospital on purpose – 60 machines catering to 350 patients, including children. As a result, all the surviving patients are now being treated at Al-Aqsa Hospital.
“This is a massive load, especially since electricity is not always available. That is why we were forced to reduce the number of hours, but this has a very negative impact on a patient’s health.”
