  1. Happy #Saturday, y'all.

I am somewhat obsessed with #JapaneseMaples and have rather too many for the space we have.

This beauty is called Grandma Ghost & is so beautiful to look at.

The ghost series are all reticulated leaf maples & their leaves can change colour from spring to summer & finally through autumn.

Another key characterisitlc is that the veins of the leaf are usually picked out in a different colour.

They are becoming more widely available in the UK & still quite expensive.

  2. Happy #Tuesday, and all who sail in her...

My phone keeps telling me that there is more rain on the way.

    These things are very clever...

Meanwhile, here are some photos from yesterday of some lovely things persisting in the #garden despite the moist, tepid gloomminess.

    Here we have:

    Acer palmatum Olsen's Frosted Strawberry

    Acer Plamtum Grandma Ghost

    Acer palmatum Miwa (again).

    Enjoy 😄

  3. #PDX #Photograly of #FallColors from #JapaneseMaples, set against a dark background, with sunlight striking and projecting through them.

  4. This Japanese maple was installed about 12 years ago. Annual pruning is important to retain the beauty and sculptural interest of the tree in summer, but especially in winter.

I live in a condominium that happens to be surrounded by Japanese Maples. They leafed out a couple of week ago and are now covered with tiny inconspicuous flowers, and bees. Thousands of bees, adding a murmur, a steady background hum to everything outside. They aren't aggressive and they mind their own business. I look forward every year to them returning to harvest pollen from our beautiful trees.
