World Chimpanzee Day

Il 14 luglio torna il World Chimpanzee Day, la giornata mondiale dedicata agli scimpanzé: geni della foresta, acrobati del buonumore e, diciamolo, i più irresistibili “quasi-umani” del pianeta. Dal 2018 questa ricorrenza celebra l’eredità di Jane Goodall, che proprio il 14 luglio del 1960 mise piede nella foresta di Gombe e cambiò per sempre la storia della biologia. Da allora, ogni anno, il mondo si riunisce per festeggiare i nostri parenti più stretti con iniziative, scoperte e un bel po’ di risate.

✨ Novità 2026: cosa bolle nella giungla?

Il tema internazionale di quest’anno è “Voices of the Forest”, un invito a dare spazio — e volume — alle storie degli scimpanzé, dei ricercatori e dei santuari che li proteggono. E le novità non mancano:

• Nuova mappa globale dei santuari: il Jane Goodall Institute ha lanciato una piattaforma interattiva che permette di “visitare” virtualmente i centri di recupero in Africa, con video in diretta delle attività quotidiane dei chimp (spoiler: sì, litigano per le banane).
• Progetto ChimpanZoom 2.0: un upgrade del programma educativo che porta nelle scuole europee lezioni immersive in realtà aumentata. I bambini potranno osservare come gli scimpanzé costruiscono nidi, comunicano e… rubano frutta con una destrezza degna di un ladro di scena.
• Campagna #BananaForChange: influencer, biologi e artisti uniti per sensibilizzare sulla perdita dell’habitat. L’idea? Trasformare la banana in simbolo di protezione ambientale. Preparati a vedere stories gialle ovunque.
• Nuovi dati scientifici: nel 2026 è stato pubblicato uno studio che conferma che gli scimpanzé non solo usano strumenti, ma li modificano in base al contesto. In pratica: piccoli MacGyver della savana.

💚🤍❤️E in Italia?

Il 2026 segna un boom di iniziative:

• I bioparchi di Roma, Ravenna e Verona ospitano laboratori “chimp-lab” per bambini, con attività di problem solving ispirate alle tecniche degli scimpanzé.
• Il Centro di Monte Adone presenta il progetto “Scimmie in Ascolto”, dedicato alla riabilitazione comportamentale degli animali salvati dal traffico illegale.
• Sui social italiani spopola il filtro “Chimp Chic”, che trasforma il volto degli utenti in una versione scimmiesca glamour (non sempre lusinghiera, ma decisamente divertente).

🎉 Perché festeggiare?

Perché gli scimpanzé sono in pericolo, ma anche pieni di vita, cultura, emozioni e sorprese. Ridono, ballano sotto la pioggia, si offendono se ignorati e condividono con noi il 98,7% del DNA. Celebrarli significa ricordare che proteggere loro è proteggere anche noi.
