According to #NZPol Treasury the combined economic and infrastructural damage from the 2023 Auckland Anniversary floods and Cyclone Gabrielle is estimated to be between $9 billion and $14.5 billion.

That alone is over 5 x the cost of the Nicky No Boat's cancelled #iRex ferry project.

We cannot afford not to address #ClimateChange.

🧠📚 Mit einem feierlichen Festakt wurde gestern Abend das Institut für Rechtsextremismusforschung (IRex) an der Eberhard Karls Universität Tübingen offiziell eröffnet – ein bedeutender Meilenstein in der wissenschaftlichen Auseinandersetzung mit Rechtsextremismus in Deutschland.

🏛️ Das IRex ist das erste strukturell verankerte Universitätsinstitut bundesweit, das sich gezielt mit rechtsextremen Strukturen, Entwicklungen und Präventionsansätzen befasst. Es ist an der Wirtschafts- und Sozialwissenschaftlichen Fakultät der Universität Tübingen angesiedelt.

📌 Die Gründung des Instituts geht auf eine zentrale Empfehlung des 2. NSU-Untersuchungsausschusses des @Landtag_BW zurück. Ziel war die Einrichtung einer wissenschaftlich fundierten Anlaufstelle zur Erforschung, Dokumentation und Bewertung rechtsextremer Phänomene mit gesellschaftspolitischer Relevanz.

🎙️ Landtagspräsidentin Muhterem Aras hob in ihrem Grußwort die Verantwortung demokratischer Akteure hervor, rechtsextremistischen Tendenzen mit Klarheit, Wissen und Haltung zu begegnen. In ihrer Rede betonte sie die zentrale Rolle der Forschung am IRex im Kampf gegen Rechtsextremismus: „Wissenschaft lebt von Wahrheit! Und Wahrheit ist ein Gegengift, das wir in Politik und Gesellschaft dringend brauchen!“

🔍 Das Institut wird zukünftig nicht nur Forschung betreiben, sondern auch wichtige Impulse für Bildung, Aufklärung und politische Praxis setzen.
