"Diseases
today reveal our close ties to animals. Viruses leap from bats to camels to humans. Cats catch the flu, and tourists pass tuberculosis to elephants. In recent years, however, something has changed. Exploitation of the environment is causing more diseases to jump species than ever before — a threat to life that rivals climate change. The science is clear: the cause of this great acceleration is us.""In Sentinels, Michael Dulaney takes readers from southern China to the Andes, from the Arctic to Australia, to tell the gripping stories of the people and animals at the forefront of this enormous change. Dulaney joins ecologists tracking flying foxes through Australia’s eastern forests, and frog hunters netting endangered species on Indonesian mountains. Along the way, we meet lemmings that resist global warming, coastal seals with bird flu, and genetically engineered disease-proof pigs."
"...Sentinels is an essential reckoning with our intimate connection to nature, and a call to build a fairer world for all." >>

We have no place to store or get rid of it. Dutch poop anyone? Oh, and we should get rid of it by October 1, so if you're interested please hurry otherwise we're in trouble due to repeatedly breaking european law. Dankjewel! 💩🇳🇱❤️

Government in court over chicken poo in River Wye https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-68221223
This is good news; it has to stop.
But behind the scenes lies a bigger problem: industrial chicken farming.
From egg to 2kg in 37 days is unnatural. An indoor life is unnatural. A 37 day life is unnatural. Immature, fatty meat lacks texture and flavour.
Industrial scale meat farming is horrible yet it’s a growth industry.
Attack the source, not just its consequence.

I just found out:
industrial meat contains B12 because...cyanocobalamine is used as feed additive 🙄
Feels a little bit like cheating when vegans are criticized "because it is difficult to cover B12 requirements" with a plants-only diet and "it can't be good if you have to supplement your diet"
