Beef cattle welfare:140 cattle, including 100 cows and 40 calves died of thirst

"The lack of investigation into deaths at the $700 million beef business has been slammed as "completely unacceptable" by a legal expert who argued industry had captured government regulators...The circumstances of this case are highly representative of a long-established pattern of passivity and industry capture [for the department] when dealing with the welfare of commercial farm animals."
