Dear #HiveMind
I use Listed.to as a blogging platform because it allows me to write in #Markdown in #StandardNotes. However they have just announced that the platform will be taken down 31/12/26. That's a pain but I understand the reasons.
My question: what is a good alternative for a simple text-focussed blog? #Antifa and #Privacy attitude essential.
Anyone recommend write.as?

Poland has one of the most developed wild mushroom eating culture in the west. I used to forage for wild mushrooms since the early childhood and I was eating them together with the adults. These days the health officials are saying that I'm not allowed to feed even the most basic wild mushroom to my daughter until she's 12. I can't shake the feeling that it's some sort of colonial culture war against the polish traditional food. My question to the eastern fedi friends, where the mushroom culture is way more developed than in Poland - what are the recommendations towards feeding the wild mushrooms to children in China or Japan? Do you also treat it this strictly or do you allow some of the most obvious and common ones on your children plate?

Fishing for an answer: Please tell me your favorite self-hosted photo web app (or share with your friends who know one) that:
Can run in linux, docker
Supports multiple users, each with the ability to manage their own independent photos and albums.
Includes a nice slide-show feature over user-curated albums, include "smart" albums (i.e. albums created dynamically based on search criteria).
Has good metadata support (geolocation, timeline, tags, faces), including preloading metadata from EXIF tags.
Includes a smartphone app that syncs the device's camera roll.
Basically, a practical replacement for Google Photos. Any ideas?
[EDIT: Lots of love for immich and piwigo. I'm going to give immich a shot. It's looking promising.]

Those defending the public interest weaken their arguments by couching them in longform, wonky terms. But lately, we've seen the power of repeatedly using cutting, concise arguments, revealing the power of #writing and #words.
i.e.:
- "the Epstein class"
- "pervert glasses"So... I want ALL of you to post in the comments something bad for society. And then I want you to reply to that and other comments with a cutting, cruel two-word descriptor.
Share the post, so #mastodon can #hivemind this! -
Crap, did some online digging (sic), and it looks like I have one or more moles in my backyard. This is a new one on me.
What do I do?

@13reak
I am team "other" and here is why:I could not care less what companies communicate. If I require specific information about a company I would not consult the Fediverse.
Here I am following humans. People who express their opinion and whom I can interact with if I want to. And them.
Plus limited number of science and news channels / journalists to keep me updated early.Means:
Entirely off business related content like LinkendIn. I cancelled by account there and let them wank without me (and as this is MICROSOFT they can even wank harder)In case the business side is very important I would recommend
Business network embedded in the Fediverse. As they are only building it for a couple of weeks number of users and content is still a bit limited. But imho very promising!

Dear Fedi,
Quick question: when would you follow a company on the Fediverse?
(I'm trying to get rid of LinkedIn and get freelance work somewhere ethical...)
