Super, that was easy.
I just setup #Joplin on my #iPad to synchronise with my #Strato #HiDrive using #WebDAV. No hassle, it was straight working.
Next I did the setup on my #Android phone.
Also straight working. All the notes I created on my iPad appeared on my phone. #BigUp 👍🏻

Next step will be to check out if it will work properly with concurring changes.

2. Within the same notebook, different notes
3. Within the same note
Stress the system.

Hm, I just realised that #Joplin is also supporting #WebDav. As I have a #Strato #Hidrive which also supports WebDav I can use this maybe. 🤔💡

I just realized that Ionos' HiDrive has an option for rsync!

I've never checked whether a European provider would offer rsync filesystem access for Linux systems, but now, with Trump at the helm, it has become an urgent issue.

I just stumbled across rclone. A tool for syncing files to cloud storage. Which can also encrypt and decrypt the data. So... something for a encrypted remote backup. Not only it works with SSH/SFTP, but also with a lot of other service like S3, Google Cloud Storage, HiDrive, Hetzner Cloud Storage and so on (see https://rclone.org/docs/).

Maybe I will create an blog post about rclone in the near future, because the docs weren't that straightforward (at least for me).

But in short (even when the examples sates otherwise), you need to add two hosts: one for sftp/ssh/rsync (or any other services) and one for "crypt". Then it will be encrypted on the sending computer.

Nice... I am positively surprised.

Mounten meint das Einbinden eines Devices... nicht nur bei #Linux, auch z.B. bei #OpenVMS.

@mailbox_org #WebDAV hat seine Einschränkungen, insbesondere in Bezug auf Dateigrößen und Timeouts. Es ist ein solides Proto. u. wird häufig in Cloud-Anw. integriert. Für prof. Dateitransfers stößt es jedoch an seine Grenzen. Eine Ergänzung d. SFTP oder FTPS wäre empfehlenswert, da dies eine zuverlässigere Alternative für größere und umfangreichere Übertragungen bietet. Mit d. Erweiterung könnten Sie ein Alleinstellungsmerkmal neben #HiDrive schaffen u. die Lösung noch professioneller gestalten.

Now, I ran out of #cloud storage. I actually wanted to just upgrade my plan and pay #Microsoft even more money, but turns out 1TB is the max they offer per account. Hence, I am now moving all of my data to the #GDPR-compliant #HiDrive by #Strato which only has servers in Germany and offers double the storage for the same price.

Thank you, Microsoft, for making the switch away so painless :)

@kuketzblog Seit einiger Zeit nutze ich die #StorageBox von @Hetzner_Online für meine Offsite-#Backup’s. Die erstelle ich verschlüsselt via #restic[profile]. StorageBox ist günstig, schnell und unterstützt eine Reihe von Protokollen. Vorher habe ich #Strato #HiDrive verwendet. Bei denen muss man aber mittlerweile die Protokolle extra zahlen. War mir dann irgendwann zu teuer.
