Having a long discussion with one of the more reasonable MLs from #hexbear, and it's downright fascinating https://lemmy.dbzer0.com/post/29900244/14179136
I'm really pushing them to argue the "left unity" which they claim exists in hexbear between anarchists and MLs and the best they can come up with is that hexbear anarchists accept "Actually Existing Socialism" as a fact (which is just...wut?!) and that they all hang out in the same place doing their own leftist things.

What makes this one especially ironic is that I specifically DMed the mod to make sure I understood the bounds of acceptable behavior in the community. He assured me I'd be fine, I'd just be mocked, which I'm 100% okay with.

#Hexbear takes on East Asia LGBTQ+ oppression, especially in China, are so exceptionally bad and out of touch from the grounded reality. They're even justifying later liberation for LGBTQ+ in the Global South and instead "kindly" asks us to soften our tone on the issues and "unite" together against the US #imperialism. I wonder if they're mostly composed of Global North privileged class that see us as people that have no agency of our own and can't advocates for our rights by ourselves.
