My hubris has cost me.
After my successful siege defense, I sent my veteran squads to retaliate and raze one of the smaller goblin pits.
Unfortunately while they were away a fierce dragon got in before I could close the gate to the caverns.
I lost over 70 dwarves before it was finally killed. The brave dwarf who killed it died of his wounds afterwards.

This poor elf. His tombstone says “disappeared”, which means nobody witnessed the dragon incinerate him.
I asked my craftsdwarves to make a statue of him. Apparently the only story he told us was about his divorce nearly 400 years ago.

Another goblin siege at the end of winter. While it had 165 invaders, things went fairly well this time. I did lose three dwarves, I’m not certain exactly how, as far as I can tell they never made it inside. Maybe the stress of manning bolt throwers was too much for some citizens. Eventually I had to send my squads out to attack, as 89 siege engineers just cowered in the corner even after I raised the gate. No soldiers lost in the counter offensive our queen led.
