#KDE 's #Gwenview 'sidebar features', esp Annotate, could really, really gain from some extra love. Some features being buggy is one thing, but the amount of times I've seen people use it to annotate and then miss to save it, losing their edits completely, simply bcos of its confusing separate window just to annotate and its placements of buttons etc. is just not ideal.

In the past few days (with a few system updates in the meantime) Gwenview has crashed when trying to open png and jpg graphics.

I don't think it is an issue internal to Gwenview. I installed qimgv as a recommended viewer, and it fails as well. Something in Qt related utilities?

Anybody know what's going on?

In the past few days (with a few system updates in the meantime) Gwenview has crashed when trying to open png and jpg graphics.

I don't think it is an issue internal to Gwenview. I installed qimgv as a recommended viewer, and it fails as well. Something in Qt related utilities?

Anybody know what's going on?

(running Kubuntu 24.04)

¿Alguien está teniendo problemas con kioslave5?
Entiendo que debe tratarse de algo que interviene en la visualización de las miniaturas de imágenes en Dolphin y el visor de imágenes Gwenview.
Gwenview no se abre para mostrar una imagen desde Dolphi.
Cuando abro Gwenview de forma independiente, e intento navegar por los directorios, se cierra proporcionando un mensaje de error.
Cuando intentas visualizar una imagen desde Dolphin empiezan a salir mensajes de error de kioslave5.
Ha capturado la pantalla, para mostrar estos mensajes. Pero si intento pasarlos a GIMP me da error.
La ventana del capturador de pantalla, sí que me permite guardarlos en disco.

Cuando intento abrirlos con GIMP me da error, con los mensajes que aparecen en la imagen adjunta, que he conseguido recortar del archivo de pantalla con XnView.

He limpiado paquetes (autoremove) y he hecho un update y un upgrade con apt, restaurando después la sesión, pero no ha servido para nada.

Since an update to #Kubuntu 24.04 this morning, I have been unable to load any graphic files into any application - I've tried #GIMP, #Gwenview & DigiKam. Even Dolphin has issues. The only one that has worked is Krita.
GIMP error is:
Plug-in crashed: "file-png"
(/usr/lib/x86_64-linux-gnu/gimp/3.0/plug-ins/file-png/file-png)

The dying plug-in may have messed up GIMP's internal state. You may want to save your images and restart GIMP to be on the safe side.
