  1. [2/3] The number of "soft" pledges (people who change their mind) is one of the best gauges of how well a candidate is doing in an election. In #ge2019 my local race lost two thirds of our Labour pledges (largely anti-Brexit protest voters who preferred Boris to Corbyn). The numbers were much more promising for #ge2024 Islington North. We recorded dozens of reconfirmed #VoteCorbyn pledges and only one or two "antis" who had changed their mind or originally been recorded wrong.

  2. [1/2] For my first #VoteCorbyn canvassing session I went straight from a job interview to Tufnell Park Tavern. The campaign team had a pub bench setup for sending out groups of 4-6. A boardrunner sends canvassers to each door and records the result. Waiting to run my first group was my most perfect board runner: Jackie Schneider, Labour candidate for Wimbledon #ge2019 where I had campaigned for her nonstop for six weeks. It was like coming home and started a smile that hasn't left my face since.

There are 30 MPs with a #GE2019 majority* of less than 1,000:

    14 Conservative constituencies: lowest 105
    11 Labour: lowest 145
    2 SNP: lowest 149
    1 LibDem: 204
    1 Independent: 865
    1 Sinn Féin: 57

As I said, it wasn't so much his message, it was the messenger, but his far left #Corbynista disciples wouldn't listen.

Then #GE2019 turned out just as predicted. 🤷🏾‍♂️

1/ I tell you what's counter-productive, I share news on the damage the #Tories are doing to the #UK, & the solutions #Labour are proposing.

HOWEVER, EVERY SINGLE DAY, I get descended upon by #Corbynista's who skip straight past the #Tories who're causing the carnage, & go straight for #Starmer! 😳

I get it! You HATE the guy & blame his & other Labour MP's calls for a confirmatory referendum, on your Messiah Jezza losing badly in #GE2019.

#Corbyn's a loser. The only things he's ever won were his safe constituency seat, & the #Labour leadership.

He was a lifelong Eurosceptic leading an 80% pro #EU party. His "leadership" for Labour's Remain #Brexit campaign was beyond pathetic.

Jezza lost again to a deeply unpopular May, & the less we say about #GE2019, the better! 🙄

I know what was in it, however things changed rapidly after #GE2019 & Labour have had to take on board what led to the defeat & adjust to the Covid/Brexit new normal.

As many have said, it wasn't Labour's message that was the issue, it was the messenger. This is why it still beggars belief that many Corbyn loyalists want him to return to Labour as leader.

It ain't happening, so why don't the left unite into one coherent party & fight #GE2024? 🤔

"Actually, The #LibDems polling figure just prior to #GE2019 was only around 3% higher than current polling"

Meaning you are doing less well now than just before you managed to get a grand total of 12 MPS elected?

You do see the issue, surely? As I frequently post in response to #labourLeft posters bemoaning #starmer being a #redTory in their eyes (he is of course nothing of the sort), purity in opposition is totally pointless.......

  15. The way MPs are elected to Westminster is broken beyond repair. We need to #MakeSeatsMatchVotes sign @electoralreform's #GE2019 petition: makeseatsmatchvotes.org

  17. @TheBeastOfBaglan
Has that happened in just 20 years or so? In 1997 Labour had 49% and Cons 27%. In #GE2019 Cons got 53% to Labour 34%. That's quite a change around.

I note that the Senedd seat is much more evenly split between Con/Lab/PC.

  18. Can someone explain to me how the Carmarthen West and South Pembrokeshire constituency voted 52.7% Tory, in last week's General Election?

When the seat was created in 1997 Labour had 49.1% of the vote.

    Wales, you are baffling me.

  19. I note that some people are suggesting Jo Swinson should be "parachuted" into the House of Lords, because the voters of East Dunbartonshire rejected her.

That's democracy, for you, UK style.

  20. Has anyone got video of the declaration? I haven't seen it, or the speeches, and would like it for my highlights of #GE2019
