  1. New episode:
TuxJam 128 – Go 8 bit! is out. In this episode @mralc, @mcnalu, @thelovebug and @kevie look at the distro DietPi and backup utility FoxClone. Along with the usual mix of #CCMusic tuxjam.otherside.network/tuxja

  2. What's your backup regimen? I'm thinking:

    1. Images with Foxclone.
    2. Snapshots with Timeshift.
    3. Files with Borg.

    sudo dd if=/dev/sda of=/dev/sdb status=progress

Warum nicht gleich so? Warum muss man immer alles so kompliziert machen, wenn es nicht sein muss? DD ist doch super easy.

  4. Also, if you need to clone a drive, from my experience, FoxClone is good. I recommend it.

It is basically a minimal Linux distro that boots from a USB drive or disc (I burned it on a CD) and has a number of Linux drive/partition management tools included in addition to the FoxClone backup/cloning software itself.

The PDF instructions for FoxClone are also included right on the FoxClone desktop, and they were very helpful.

    Anyway, my two cents.

  5. And, as of today, I have been running Linux Mint for 1 year.

On 12 June 2023 I took out my 1 GB Windows 10 SATA HDD and 16 GB Optane drive and replaced them with an old 1.5 GB 7200rpm SATA HDD that had been stored 10 years.

After a few months on Mint, in November 2023, I saw in my S.M.A.R.T. logs that the very old HDD was returning some errors and reporting some bad sectors so I used #FoxClone to clone my Linux install to a brand-new (Crucial T500) 2 GB NVMe SSD.
