Total, hasi naizela katxarreatzen #Mullvad kendu eta #Xeovo jartzeko #Wireguard bidez, ez dut lortu guztiz nahi nuen bezala funtzionatzea, jarraitu dut gida bat dena desinstalatzeko... eta orain ez daukat internet konexiorik ordenagailuan.

Hementxe #TimeShift​ekin jolasten aber lortzen dudan gauzak zeuden bezala uztea.

Je sais pas vous, mais chez moi #boot-repair sous #LinuxMint c'est systématiquement un désastre. Sans #Timeshift je serais carrément mort.

I don't know for you, but on my system, #boot-repair under #LinuxMint is always a disaster. Without #Timeshift, I'd be completely dead.

Alguém conhece um programa de backup para Linux chamado #timeshift?

Le temps de taper ce message sur mon smartphone et c'ést réparé. Je suis content d'avoir installé #Timeshift ; ce truc marche du tonnère: "sudo timeshift --restore" et hop c'est magique.

En mode #Timeshift je m'absente une heure et rien ne va plus. Il y a quelques jours, j'ai installé #Timeshift sur ma #Debian en me disant "on ne sait jamais" et bien, j'ai du flaire pour une fois.

#timeshift shot ist immer gut.
wenn der neue kernel nicht mag, einfach in grub den vorigen starten und den neuen entfernen..
nicht vergessen im kernel bereich unten rechts, alle alten kernel zu entfernen.

@mfuhrmann In theory kinda yes. It deepends on how you setup the tool. Number of snapshots ... But, under practical conditions not really.

I usually, just revert back to an earlier time point and things are fine. Anyways, you can also choose a snapshot during boot.

On #Debian based systems I use #timeshift (with #ext4) in a similar fashing.

Ich hatte ja gestern einen LM Update-Gau, das Update hat das System zerschossen. Habe es versucht per Timeshift via Live-Stick zurück zu setzten aber keiner der 3 Timeshiftpunkte war erfolgreich denn nach dem Neustart das selbe Prpblem das diverse Startdateien beschädigt oder nicht vorhanden wären. Nun also Neuinstallation und alles von Vorne 🙄.

Ich hoffe so etwas passiert nicht nochmal.

Timeshift:

Ich habe unter Linux Mint zahlreiche Flatpak-Programme laufen, die sich ja per Textdatei mit einem Wisch im Ernstfall neu installieren lassen.

Daher schließe ich den entsprechenden Ordner bei der Systemsicherung aus. Spart einiges an (Backup-Speicher-)Platz.

rsync und Timeshift konnten mich bisher nicht wirklich überzeugen.

Ich kann nun sagen das ich seit 2+ Wochen #Linux #Fedora benutze! Bisher habe ich noch keine großen Probleme gehabt.... Und ich habe mich natürlich mit #Timeshift abgesichert. :blobcat:

I love Timeshift. It just saved my ass during the Fedora upgrade to version 43. Hopefully now I have prepared my system correctly and the upgrade will run smoothly in the second try. Wish me luck.

#LinuxMint and #Linux in general friends, I have a question for you. I've just used #TimeShift to roll back my system as I had accidentally typed a stupid command into the terminal (rm -r ~ ((is the use of a tilde as a system naming variable as dangerous as "*"?))) and I was worried I had removed things I shouldn't have and I rolled back to my last TimeShift snapshot.

So far no issues. Reboot. Where are have my desktop items gone? Replacing launcher items was not hard, but a custom script for enabling RT audio features was gone. Where did it go? Why did it go?

Thankfully I have instructions on making this on my website so I'm back where I wanted to be, but I am unclear why my Desktop was reset on a TimeShift rollback (the Desktop items were all there on the last TimeShift).

A security update to CUPS broke printing in Linux Mint 21.3 in 2025, AKA the year of the Linux desktop. Yargh !

This is the first time that I've ever actually restored a Timeshift backup, and the sonofabitch just worked. Held back the CUPS update in Update Manager and boom, problem solved (for now).

Ab wann wäre eine NAS für's Backup zweier Laptops (1x Arbeit und 1x Privat) geboten? Andersrum: wie lange ist die Backup-Lösung mit einfachen externen Festplatten ausreichend?

Wie haltet ihr es damit?

Ich frage, weil mir der Ressourcen- und Stromverbrauch für #NAS für so eine "kleine" Problematik ungerechtfertigt hoch erscheint.

Australia has insufficient solar, wind, etc, at times when the sun is not at its strongest.

To conserve coal/oil/gas/the atmosphere they are encouraging people to shift use of electricity from then to the period in the middle of the day when they have a surplus of solar power.

This is sensible.
