oops, this is the real link I meant to share last night
MIDI has been on my mind since at least May of 2024. Here's a recap of the timeline of things I've accomplished:

Finally had time to play a game of Star Trek on the #F256K by the industrious Ernesto, who's a maestro at making fully completed superbasic programs. He even put out a manual for it!

Making good progress in C programming for the #F256K from Foenix Retro Systems. Mastering kernel based timers is key to game programming and animation. (it's ok to watch just a few seconds of this)

Great work-in-progress from xDraconian on a remake of Track N' Field ported to a F256, I captured it at 60 fps on my #F256K. All done in assembly; it mimicks the demo mode of the arcade so far.
https://youtu.be/Jn0Mpi5b8HUThe F256K2 is coming soon and has backward compatibility ofc

a very decent port of pacman done by SprySloth for the #F256K. That's basically a dev rite of passage for a new platform, right?

Just got these banana-to-dupont cables. I'm too invested in Dupont connectivity to go somewhere else for all my small electronics power needs!
I have Dupont-to-:
-barrel jack
-micro-USB
-??? (future needs I'm sure!) -
new videos from 8-bit wall of DOOM are always a treat. this time, a gentle introduction to the 6809 processor and how, in a special custom FNX6809 board, it can pin replace (with adapter board) the default 6502 in the F256Jr/K from Retro Foenix Systems

I transfered Duncan from Dark Castle (1986 Macintosh b&w game) to a #F256K with the magic of Gimp image software, python scripts and 6502 assembly language.

#F256K #8bit #6502 development is going along nicely in that community. new firmware release (ie the collection of software loaded up in reserve in flash memory) now includes an awesome file/memory manager with tons of management options, deals with storage device, RAM and Flash alike, can be used as a program launcher. HUGE Norton Commander vibes but BETTER

#F256K "Take on PSG" tracker music that I punched in my F256K. pulse sound. 3 channels, 8-bit. Check it out. This is the lowest bar since this computer could do dual SID and OPL. All at once. https://youtu.be/MTJ1z510n3k

#F256K Find out what kind of upgrades you can do when you get this computer's case opened

#F256K It's the FUTURE NOW. awesome 8-bit based F256K. Gets programs and .MODs from the internet wirelessly. Plays them in a crude PSG mod player.

Need a deep dive into the SID chip (6581) used in the C64 in relation to its lineage with the Moog synth and all the way to the modern #F256K which has 2 in dual mode? check this series out, but in particular episode 2 of this playlist from 8-bit Wall of Doom. Excellent series, very in depth, I wanted this nice walkthrough for a good part of my life! https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TcRYoLzC-ls&list=PLeHjTvk7NPiTtBKQYAeS-sqzXNzc0dXMN&index=2

#F256K just got not 1, not 2 but 3 related xmas demo-things in the last few days, highlighting some of its retro computer capabilities (SID music, PSG music, 60 fps animation, shoutouts to the "sceners" (lol)). I roped all 3 in a video here https://youtu.be/bIHiuJkVEso

I made a new video detailing why and how to install wifi to a F256K from Foenix Retro Systems, from config to soldering. There are online multiplayer projects in the works. Appreciate a reshare to spread awareness of it!

Perifractic of Retro Recipes does a video on the #F256K https://youtu.be/TJQgecozNzU?si=0M2OEHROxtrVsnWA
Among the various programs shown, my humble Mandelbrot fractal basic drawing program!

#F256K #8bit #retrocomputing Just performed a CPU swap going from a 6502 (8-bit) to the 6502 compatible 16-bit 65816. Also in the reserve is a 6809 that this F256K can take in!

A second channel rebrand (AnyBit Fever Dreams)
https://www.youtube.com/channel/UCIUn0Dp6PM8DBTF-5g0nvcwI remade my logo for my versatile secondary youtube channel AnyBit Fever Dreams.
My main channel remains '1Bit Fever Dreams' (and has a lot more traction) for black and white Mac stuff. AnyBit is for everything else #retrocomputing #msdos #f256k #vintage etc
