I actually thought about it but then realized how much work that would be to make chickens for them all. I'm thinking of maybe some smaller objects though, like this cute knitted salamander I found.

In yhe meantime, we are all waiting for Mary to take a nap, to steal the chicken back.

There is some emotional support chicken DRAMA going on around here!

Gave chicken to Shannon, a resident, in her fave color. At first she said "Fuck you!" to the aide, but once she realized it was for her, she got all happy.

Since, she's been rolling around with it, eating with it, sleeping with it. UNTIL... another resident STOLE the chicken!!! "She doesn't use it," she said. So now, the aide is gonna steal that chicken back. TBC!!

WIP philosophy: It's a evolving, since I only started knitting again ~18 months ago. My goal is 5 WIPs. I try to have each one explore a different technique, like dropped stitches, cables or colorwork. I also slide in "palette cleansers" - smaller projects like the #ESChicken that I can get a sense of completion from, then return to the bigger stuff.

One oddity I'm noticing about myself is I get close to finishing but then don't. Why?

This one is a gift for a resident here who has some dementia going on, which in turn makes her anxious, and then she yells and scratches.

Purple is her favorite color, so went that way with palette. Put a jingle bell on tip of tail, just for fun. We'll see if she likes it. 🧶

It's emotional support chicken #2!! It has a head now, cock and wattle are next, then safety eyes, sew up and stuff.

This one is for one of the long term residents here, who has some dementia going on. Purple is her favorite color. I plan to embroider her initial on the breast gusset. Chicken #3 to come is for me. 🥰

Chicken #2, for a resident here who rolls around in her wheelchair alot, periodicqlly hollering curses. Maybe the chicken will help her. The making of it has helped me.

I needed to do something soothing, ya know? Been a rough couple of days. Starting to feel better. Sometimes the road is bumpy, right? How dull if it was always smooth!

Looks like I made some new knitting friends over the weekend. Hello new knitting friends, and thank you @FediFollows for the shout-out! 😘

To catch you all up, I recently got back from my honeymoon during which I'd planned to knit an entire #EmotionalSupportChicken. This did not happen. In fact, first photo is the extent of what I got done in an entire week because we were too busy exploring, drinking and napping...absolutely no regrets.

But I've been working on it here and there since we got back, and second pic proves that progress is finally progressing! I'm not 100% sure what I have here is correct, but I am sure I'll manage to bodge it into a chicken shape somehow 😅
