I knit these drawstring bags to experiment with yarns, this is Purl Soho's new Japanese Denim Cotton, which I dyed with black tea (1 tea bag per cup of water, a teaspoon of salt, simmer an hour then leave overnight).
The pattern is Apothecary's Pocket, you can get it for free on my Payhip page. I made it easy to make in a lot of different sizes.

played with color - dyed some yarn purple for my 2nd knitting project. i really like how the color came out.
random fact: humans have been dyeing yarn / fibers for 36,000 years at least.

The many uses of Broomcorn (Sorghum): "..In Nigeria, the pulverized red leaf-sheaths of sorghum have been used to dye leather, while in Algeria, sorghum has been used to dye wool. In India, the panicle stalks are used as bristles for brooms."

The goldenrod blooms and that means I can dye wool again! And this time I think I'm gonna sell the yarn. An example of how it will turn out in the photo. Only question is: How big is the interest and what quality of yarn should I get? Poll in the answer.

I’m taking a lichen dyeing class and it’s kind of light on the wool-dyeing and heavy on the nerding out about lichens. This is not a complaint. #lichensubscribe #dyeingyarn
