Although, I did make the job a little easier for myself. I used a strip of white fabric almost 2.5" (~6.1 or 6.2 cm) wide, and put all the triangles on it, then sewed 1/4" (6 mm) seams down the long sides of each triangle, cut them all apart, then pressed, and trimmed. Here's a picture of the little tiny ruler I used to trim all the squares. It's a lot of work for such small blocks.

I got a little bored just cutting all my fabric scraps today, so I took a few minutes and pieced some teeny tiny half-square triangle blocks. Just wanted to try something new. I'm not used to making 1.5" (3.8 cm) squares. I have HUNDREDS of little triangles in various colors and prints. Maybe someday I'll use them in an actual, usable quilt.

I’m making some progress on my latest quilt. Those little 9-patch blocks I was making before have now been incorporated into larger 9-patch blocks to form a chain effect around the heart blocks I’d already made. UPDATE: More progress today! I was able to finish and attach the top and bottom blocks and borders, and I pieced the side pieced borders (same pattern as the smaller inner border, but different fabrics). I ran out of black to finish the side border panels (expected), but I should be getting more fabric in on Tuesday to finish the top. Then I have to figure out how I'm gonna quilt this beastie!

UPDATE:
I made some real progress today! I still need to attach the top and bottom rows of framed blocks and a top and bottom border, plus make the pieced borders for the sides and attach them, but I feel like it's coming together well! (some day I'll have a proper design wall!)

I hope to get the large outer pieced border made tomorrow.

Here's a few more photos of my progress so far.

The top now measures 36.5" x 57". Not nearly big enough for a queen bed. I've got a lot more work to do on it, but at least the fabric I ordered came in!

I started a new quilt today. It will be a Christmas present for our eldest daughter, who requested a new quilt and picked out the fabrics.

The first photo is the center panel, which has borders attached.

The second photo is a sneak peek at some strips (and strip sets) that will be sewn into a narrow border around the center panel.

I'm planning a queen-size, and hoping the fabric I ordered will be enough. We'll see.

Quilt top nearly done! The colours feel very seasonally appropriate, though I started it in May when they definitely weren’t. I’m calling this Exploding Pineapple Pizza (it’s a pineapple block pattern, & homage to #CBC ).

I’m always amazed that a bunch of frenetic blocks calm right down in a plain border.

I’m going to use an old bedsheet as filling, both bc #ZeroWaste & for spring/fall when the duvet is too much.
