@ai6yr @USelaine @crenquis this us why some women learned to #sew, at least a little bit, to add functional pocket to clothing. My late mother being among them... I went further learning to fully make my own clothes & pockets are always among the first thing's I get placed in my new design setups.

Got new curtains to replace the wool ones I made a century ago. Even though I didn’t measure, cut, and sew these I still have to iron all 4 of the ginormous light blocking blighters before it hits 90 this week.

Confession, for years I had candy colored sewing pins in the white cotton lining of my brown felt wool coating drapes vs an actual hem. The curtains were cut to fit - no hem needed.

I’ve been on the #interwebs for forever, it feels, but like much of humanity I became too-online in the 2020s. I’ve dialed back and now I’m re-learning to navigate the internet and find humanity and inspiration.

I’m a former #digitalartist learning to #sew, #embroider, and to overall bridge my digital experience into fabric and fiber goods. My taste is often ugly-beautiful and goofy. I look for lols in all things.

Half way though mending these jeans I got from the thrift/ charity shop I work at.

Was gonna go in the trash since they have paint and a torn belt loop.

I unstitched the belt and patched the hole. Think I might make a new belt loop that is either next to the patch OR a slightly bigger loop which attaches in the original place on the top and then just below the patch.

What do I do about the paint? Do I look up how to paint jeans and just make it all arty?

Worked at the charity/ thrift shop with my mum today. Found a bunch of cool stuff.

I normally go though bags of donations and sort them out put them on the shop floor etc and some clothes come to us pretty stained and ripped.

I want to save things from landfill so I've saved some stained stuff and and working at getting the stains out.

I found a cardigan with a hole in and just mended it in 2 minutes.

When you have a button with a thread sticking out - my mother taught me this - don't pull it, the button will fall off faster. Instead, wrap the thread around the base, it will help the button hold on longer.

I only have one on there atm but there is more to come. All the jeans I get from charity/ thrift stores. I work at a charity shop and get lots of jean scraps from jeans we can't sell.
