Choosing a quilting tutor is about fit, not just skill.

If their explanations make sense right away, you’ll feel more confident from the first stitch. If they also teach at a gentle pace, learning starts to feel calm instead of rushed.

Look for someone who guides, listens, and adjusts to how you learn.

All four blocks for this side of my cushion cover are finished now. I *think* this is the order I want to sew them together in, but I’ll finalise the decision once I’ve trimmed them.

I’ll probably do something different for the other side of the cover — same fabrics but different designs. Maybe string quilting with quilt-as-you-go, maybe something that uses crumb quilting techniques, maybe a combination. I’m going to let the ideas percolate for a bit.

I had a lot of fun with variegated thread and decorative stitching on the borders! I never liked decorative stitching very much, but now that I've seen how fun it looks with the right thread I'll be using it more. #quilting

🙌 Near perfect match to the beginning and ending of a decorative stitch border!! I wish I could say I planned it, but this is pure serendipity. It will be very easy to camouflage that as I tie off the ends. #quilting #effikaAlaskaQuilt
