The #Giants beat the #Tigers 3-2 yesterday in a squeaker doing what they have had great difficulty doing this season . . . scoring RISP w/less than 2 outs from 3rd & they did it 3x's in this game in the 7th, 8th & 9th, scoring 1 run each time to win the game after only getting 4 hits in the game & being held hit-less & score-less for 6 innings.

With the demotion of #Doval to AAA, Tyler Rogers (LHP) who apparently was a closer in a prior life, came into the came to blank the Tigers in the top of the 9th to keep the score tied at 2-2 which enabled #Canha to hit the "walk off" & 3rd sac fly in the bottom of the 9th for the win.

This now puts the Giants 2 games over 500 & only 2 games out of the 3rd Wild Card spot in competition w/the #Mets, #Cards & #Braves for that spot,

So, while a Wild Card spot is still far from certain (as Zaidi would suggest) the Giants are at least making it more "fun" to be a Giants fan.

Let's just hope it lasts. 🙏

There's no doubt that #Doval is not pitching well and that he walks batters all too much for a CLOSER who is expected to come in to STRIKE BATTERS OUT and to get quick 1-2-3 innings.

That's rarely what Doval is able to do & below is an excellent analysis WHY Doval is having the problems he's been having in getting batters out.

Doval fell into the role of "closer" a few years ago because because the Giants didn't have any better options but I think it's time to look for a REAL CLOSER because either the opposition has a better "book" on Doval & now know to just wait him out to get the walk or because, as the analysis below suggests, he really has no control or any idea where a pitch he throws will go & because he refuses to throw the pitches over which he has better control. 🤷‍♂️

It's too late in the season to make the change now but IMO it's definitely something that should be done before the start of the 2025 season.

I couldn't watch the #Giants game today (live or on DVR) because AFAIK it was only broadcast on the MLB Network. 🤬

So, I only know what happened from the box score but has an amateur box score analyst, I find it really interesting.

First off, the Giants WON 9-5 to go take 3 out of 4 from the #Nats & to go 1 game back over 500. 👏

However, how the f*ck does #Doval get the win in the 10th when he blew a 3 run lead by giving up a 3 run HR and blowing the save in the 9th? 🤦‍♂️

Credit to the Giants hitters to scrambled to score 4 runs in the 10th to SAVE Doval's a$$ & FWIW I liked the way the Giants scored by stringing hits together but they still left 12 runners on base & only scored 5 runs out of 21 RISP.

So, that's still a problem but they did enough to win & that's a "good thing." A win is a win!

Go Giants! 🥳

OBTW, Harrison who started only lasted 4.2 innings during which he gave up 2 runs on 5 hits w/no BBs & 3 Ks on only 61 pitches throw.

So why did he get pulled? Who knows?? 🤷‍♂️

Surprise of surprises!!! 🥳

The #Giants beat the #Dodgers 3-5 tonight after #Doval blew the save by giving up a run that tied the game 3-3 in the top of the 9th but Doval got "saved" and got the win (instead of Webb who should have got it) when Wisely hit a 2 run walk off HR in the bottom of the 9th. 👏

Yeah, Ramos "coulda/shoulda" caught the ball to prevent the triple but that ball was smashed, as was the sac fly that followed it to tie the game.

The other runs for the Giants came from a solo HR by Matos in the 5th and a 2 run HR by Chapman in the 6th which gave the Giants the lead 2-3 going in to the 9th which Doval blew.

Every appearance by Doval now is an adventure. You never know if you're going to get 3 up & down or a nail biter or just an outright disaster. 🤦‍♂️

Lately it's been more of the latter 2 & if this keeps up Doval could lose his role as the closer but the Giants will have to find someone better to replace him 1st and I don't know of anyone on the horizon.

The #Giants beat the #Astros today 3-5, Webb gets another rare win and #Doval gets the "save" with a rare 3 up and down appearance in the top of the 9th.

The Giants took the series 2-1 vs the current 2023 MLB champ #Rangers in Texas and took the series 2-1 vs the 2022 MLB champ #Astros at home -- back to back -- but yet they currently have a record of 34-35. 🤷‍♂️

Next up . . . a 3 game series at home starting the day after tomorrow vs the #Angels (25-41) who aren't the same since Ohtani took the $ & ran to the #Dodgers.

On paper, the Giants should sweep the Angels but the #Giants have a way of defying the data. 🤷‍♂️

Go Giants!!! 🥳

PS: Just noticed the1st game vs the Angels is being aired on #AppleTV. So, won't be able to watch it anyway. 😡
