Ich hätte ja gern mit den Menschen gesprochen, die sich für mein Poster interessierten, aber leider war da kein Platz für 2.

Die Sponsoren (#Amazon Web Services #AWS und #Microsoft) hatten das umgekehrte Problem.

Wenn die komplett ungenutzten Messestände der Sponsoren #Microsoft und #Amazon zusammen genausoviel Platz einnehmen wie alle >40 Konferenz-Poster, fühlt man sich bei der Postersession der #deRSE19 wie in einer zu engen Sauna.

Muss wahrscheinlich so sein wegen Kapitalismus & so.

Nachdem @[email protected] auf der #deRSE19 gezeigt hatte, welche Durchbrüche #Microsoft in der #KI-Forschung erzielt habe, gab es eine Nachfrage zum Thema #Datenschutz. Kein Problem, sogar eine dt. #Krankenversicherung speichere ihre Daten in der MS-Cloud Azure, war seine Antwort:(

#Microsoft #AI guy claims at
#deRSE19 that #ArtificialIntelligence has reached human parity on tasks such as #SpeechRecognition, #MachineTranslation and even “conversational Q&A” and #ObjectRecognition.

So far, he hasn't mentioned transparency, accountability or human rights.

"RSE groups that support research departments brings benefits: stable careers, peer group, knowledge exchange, training scientists, etc. #UK is well ahead in establishing these. But also regional interconnections are important (see Wales-wide HPC people)." #deRSE19

The first German conference for research software engineers #deRSE19, taking place in Potsdam from today, would not have been possible without generous financial support from @[email protected] and @[email protected]. Isn't this sad?

One reason why I am co-organizing the #deRSE19 workshop “Libraries (the brick and mortar type) for Research Software & Engineers” at 4pm today is to solicit ideas for making @[email protected] a better search engine for #FOSS and #ResearchSoftware. Please come!
