The sun is going down
Sinking behind bridges in the road
I think of all the good things
That we have left undone
And I suffer premonitions
Confirm suspicions
Of the holocaust to come

This Mined Mind of Mine

This mind of mine
is a mine
mined with mines,

bombs bombing
balmy balms,

static coms,
erratic ROMs,

a spinning sinning din of
fractured psalms.

Soul soloing
solely on wounded soles,

moldy moles
modifying holes,

digging shrews,
rigging news,

a sonic bubonic tonic of
the unamused.

Eye on the I,
I’d hide from I,
why try,

eye, I,
open wide,

what’s inside,
now out,
look about,

shouting shout,
spouting sprouts,

broken limbs,
token Sims,

a brimming skimming hymn of
the grim.

Blinding binds,
blinds behind signs,

warped windows,
skin grows,

transparent parent
gelling jellos,

a churning yearning turning of
buried cellos.

Nerve serving curve
of the mortal swerve,

a word herd stirred,
a buried blurred bird,

sudden flight,
sodden fright,

a scattered battered bat of
the tattered night.

Hands in the sand,
unplanned manned strands
of what once was grand,

keeps collapse,
seeps relapse,

in the laps of
the lambasted land,

vain veins
veined in clay,

waiting gray,
weighty water
washing away,

a dim lit hymn-bit limb of
decay.

Still—

slurping krill,
burping bill,

Be still,
be still,

not my will,
but thine,

new wine,
do dine,

demining
this mined heart of mine,

never mine,
ever kind,

sever the binding line,

and I,
eye,

am no longer
blind.

Fearing Figments

everything is so soft
it seems as if you are floating
like a feather
lying on the air

the darkness rises slowly
you see a room before you
thinly lit with moonlight
a form materializes
out of the darkness

it is pale
pale as a ghost
a ghost!

you freeze
sweat dripping
down your face
you close your eyes

something soft touches your shoulder

you jump

you are falling
falling
falling

bump!

you hit something hard
your bedroom floor
you rebuke yourself

scared of your own pillow
and a shirt thrown over a chair

the heart pigment of
plundered poetry, decides
my soul is a glimpse 

a shrapnel of words 
until the day my 
mind is shattering 

my red rimmed eyes are 
seeding the secret soil
into solid earth

spider walking air 
paper laced into my hair
spins the silver sphere

the tall grasses poised
the birds dancing into
the rose horizon

spirit of the hours 
gradually I cast my prayers
into the river

in the sight of love 
I’m the clown ambassador 
salt the snow for stars 

many tongues and gods 
the melting water flowers 
in the morning steam 

wind blurs the blackbirds 
crying their mysterious 
glimpses of a god
