So amazing. I've always felt Hartmut Esslinger's (frogdesigndesign) design prototype, the Apple FlatMac, is one of the most impressive prototypes of them all. I was fascinated upon first seeing it in the book _Appledesign_.

Huh - my screen shot shared above seemed to capture the pink haze, but when viewed on my laptop display (and prob yours) it looks normal.
Anyway - I duck-searched and found the problem via the #CultOfMac site: There's a Retina Display "TrueTone" setting which messes up your extended display for some reason. Turning it off fixes it.
Not sure why that was triggered by the latest update.

Some of those self-avowed members of the "#CultOfMac" are willing to take the company's pronouncements at face value and will dutifully repeat Apple's claims to be "protecting" its customers. But even that credulity has its breaking point - Apple can only poison the well so many times before people stop drinking from it. Remember when the company announced a miraculous reversal to its war on #RightToRepair, later revealed to be a bald-faced lie?

That's where the #CultOfMac steps in to cape for the $3 trillion behemoth. The minority of Apple customers for whom their brand loyalty is a form of religious devotion insist that "no Apple customer wants these things."

My #Tech life was going pretty great until #CraftApp changed how they handle guest accounts.
Since then I’ve been in an existential panic and unsure how the hell to organize my writing and work notes and second brain.I think it’s settling down, but this week my brain has turned into a tangled mess whenever I let it touch this topic.

My rule of thumb is to replace the hardware when it will no longer upgrade the latest Operating System. I broke this rule for the last year when Apple refused to upgrade my 27" iMac to the new M1 Chip. So, after a year of FOMO, I settled for a 24” with the new chip and the ability to run the latest OS. Yeah, it’s privilege, but as a retired IT Specialist, I like to keep up. #CultOfMac -
