Teen Titans: Starfire | Comic Review

Finally, after four books, our team is fully together. Teen Titans: Starfire adds the titular character and Cyborg. It was nice to see the gang all together, so I can’t wait to see what happens in the finale.

Starfire is the character of the Teen Titans that I know the least about, so it was nice to get a full background for her even though I know it’s not her “normal” one. In this story, she’s not an alien but a normal human from California who starts to develop powers.

HIVE continues their attempt at recruiting superpowered teenagers, and this time Starfire and her sister Blackfire are targets. It’s a classic as old as time with one sister being good and one sister being bad.

I liked how Kami Garcia brought the all of our heroes together here. They do make you feel like time is not a stagnate thing in these stories. You can also see once again how the characters relate to the teen audience and go through similar issues.

As with all of the previous books, Gabriel Picolo does a fantastic job with his art in this book. All of the characters are expertly designed and have unique appearances

I’m excited for the finale now! I can’t wait to see how this resolves in Teen Titans: Together

Teen Titans: Robin | Comic Review

I really like the dynamics of multiple Robins, and I think they use them smartly in Teen Titans: Robin. I’ve enjoyed this book series so far.

I’ve either read or seen stories with the various Robins over the years, but I honestly don’t know a ton about Damien Wayne. It was exciting to dig into his story. Then, lo and behold, Dick Grayson makes an appearance!

Dick feels like he’s close to moving on to Nightwing at this point, so it’s an interesting dynamic between himself and Damien. The young Mr. Wayne is struggling with Bruce (who never knew him) had essentially another son who he gets along with better. Their relationship is built throughout this book.

The majority of the book spends time with Robin, Beast Boy, Raven, and Soulstorm working on their powers. The goal is learning to control their powers as they prepare for what will surely be a confrontation with Slade Wilson and HIVE.

As with the other books, the combined art work from Gabriel Picolo, Rob Hayne,s and David Claderon is excellent. These are fun books.

Onto the next one! Can’t wait to meet Starfire.
