Not quite coffee... this was a drink called "summer magic" at Puck Coffee in Kuala Lumpur (it was way too hot in the afternoon for a hot filter brew). Lemon/lime juice with pea flower water on top.
Think of the physics in here! Diffusion, colour, ice & density. What science do you see?

A #coffee in a new cafe provided plenty of #coffeephysics - from the white mists (barely visible in photo) to the condensation around the #V60 jug... the physics here goes from levitation to the greenhouse effect.

An Oat Milk Flat White at Books & Coffee in Bordeaux.
Amusing to see, lovely to taste, but is it art, physics, chemistry or all of the above?
Have a good weekend, I hope you see some great #coffeephysics

Even more reason to take time to enjoy your #coffee if there is a (low pressure) storm overhead.....
Various coffee-brew guides suggest an optimal brew temperature of between approx 90-96C - so the fact that this storm caused the boiling temperature of water to dip to 98C would be a positive benefit:

A good way to start the morning!
We each enjoyed an oat-milk flat white #coffee at this cafe which will feature in a cafe-physics review soon...

I have sometimes wondered how good these one-way air valves were on bags of freshly #Roasted #Coffee
I packed this #PapaPalheta bag of #CoffeeBeans in the hold of a long-haul flight back from #Singapore and found a clue to the answer.... the low pressure caused the air to escape the bag but then, when the bag was returned into normal atmospheric pressure, the one-way valve did not appear to let the air back in.
Surprisingly effective!

Does this #coffee reflect #physics or life?
When the first microscopes and telescopes were used, there were concerns about how we should interpret what we saw through them.
I noticed this reflection on the surface of my coffee. Looking up, I realised it was a reflection of a loud-speaker itself reflected in a mirror.
So, a lesson in caution of how we use reflection to see what we can’t? Or a lesson in life - sometimes we have to change perspective to see what’s there?

Live life in the present! Too cumbersome to transfer all of my previous posts to my new server, here are a few photos of some #CoffeePhysics instead.
To me, these images highlight #physics associated with the #GreenhouseEffect #ClimateChange #optics #shadows (and so solar eclipses) #ceramics and #bubbles (on a #tea to ensure diversity). But what do you notice in your #coffee ?

A lovely new cafe has opened in #KL #Mayalsia - Called “Ditto”, it will definitely get a #cafephysics review soon, but, guess what caught my eye here:

Inside the cafe we enjoyed two types of coffee. An iced coffee complete with floating ice cream and an oat milk flat white. I couldn’t resist appreciating the latte art by drinking the #coffee along the axis!
There’s diffusion, density and bubble #physics here, but perhaps you notice something else, more #science hidden in the coffee?

Last week, I had the opportunity to visit the Colombian Coffee Company in Southwark, London. A lovely coffee in a delicate cup, with plenty of physics to ponder too.
My attention was taken by a question - how did that take away cup get there? But what #physics would you see if you were to enjoy a #coffee here?

Another #coffee linked video from the “Gallery of Fluid Motion”.
Have you ever watched as droplets of coffee ‘bounce’ over the surface of your brewing pour over?
A known #physics phenomenon, these ‘drops’ are usually observed in the lab using silicone oil. A ‘how to’ video to (reproducibly) make them is linked to this toot. To do it with coffee instead, mix the coffee with a little bit of soap.
Happy holiday experimenting!

Entirely appropriate that such patterns & geometry was enjoyed at a cafe called "123 Gasing"

If you have seen any interesting #science in your #tea cup, or particularly #physics in your #coffee cup, do share it with me.
