We handpicked 8 lbs of #NewJersey #blueberries today but we almost weren't able to do it The #clinatechange caused #drought that lasted eight months last year devastated #NJ 's #blueberry crop this year. This is the last weekend of #blueberryseason for #2025 due to this problem. As climate change gets worse, the drought will get longer and longer.

Honestly it feels objectively hopeless given incoherence between thoughts and deeds shared by 8 billion plus.
I'll offer Facebook as a problem that could be solved by literally not moving our fingers. But with all we know of FB and all the justified disparagement we hurl at this useless thing, we still actively support it and thus FB thrives while harming us by our tacit consent.
Truly hard problem, such as #ClinateChange?
That said, giving up would feel more hopeless, I think.

The "everything's terrible" takes are mostly wrong. On almost every measure: health, wealth, education, even deaths from war, the world is doing better than at any time in human history. The last century has seen extraordinary improvements, especially for the poorest.
There's a big exception: climate change poses an existential threat to humanity.

Food security is not topical in the US/West but it's more prominent in Asia. The farmer base of Asia is in duress as many are small plot farmers. As they age out and are subject to increasingly marginal yields, the societal stability of the world's factory is a bit tenuous. None of this is made better by the large Panda to the North.
