The Nino 3.4 sea surface temperature (preliminary) is at 29.65°C, as of August 9th, the 72nd consecutive record daily high, on its way to crushing the previous record high of 29.82°C, set November 17th, 2015.

The Nino 3.4 anomaly currently sits at 2.77°C above the 1991-2020 average.

Heat will once again build across the UK this weekend before the fifth widespread heatwave of the year is likely to be declared next week.

From Sunday and into next week, temperatures could exceed 30C in south-east England.

Yellow heat health alerts have been issued for most of England until Tuesday, warning of impacts for health and social care services and an increased risk to life for vulnerable people.

What people don't understand is that these fires, they destroy the only defense we have against the out of control global warming.

millions, if not billions of trees were lost just in the past few weeks and no amount of plantation will bring them back.

It will take years and decades for those forests to return to the condition they were before the fire and in the mean time, we keep increasing our carbon emission for useless crap like over consumption, war, useless technology with pre-planned obsolescence and obsession with global tourism.

We can't change our way of life, majority of people are just too dumb to be willing to sacrifice their comfort and "do as usual" lifestyle to TRY slowing down this existential treat to our lives.

We may just give up fighting and enjoy it while it lasts!

This was supposed to be the end of the heatwave.

All shades and windows closed, fan in every room, gave Mellie a quick shower before going for a walk and giving her frozen carrots and cucumbers, plus ice in her bowl.

Showered in the morning and probably going to shower again before going to bed.

Washed off all the sheets and pillow cases (second time this weekend) because I'm waking up soaking in sweat every morning.

Woke up early and my pillow and bed sheets are soaking wet.

It feels like I'm back in Ghana.

Slept with the fan blasting into the bed and light cover last night.

Saturday is supposed to be an even worse day, 36-38 degrees C during the day and 27-28 at night.

Most of my tomatoes on the balcony are dying as I don't have a cover and the sun is really hot. I guess my next strategic purchase is a shade cloth.

This sucks.

According to the latest global meteorological data, Bandar Dir in Bushehr province became the hottest city in the world by recording a temperature of 48.6 degrees Celsius (about 49 degrees) in the past 24 hours.

In this list, 7 Iranian cities including Bandar Dir, Kahnouj, Dehloran, Ahvaz, Lar, Safiabad, Dezful and Kashan are among the 15 hot cities in the world.
