  1. sharing the song i released on sunday again since i know that i am supposed to try to promote my music. if anyone is wondering the album art is a (fancied up) photo of Battery 223, a ww2 bunker on the #beach in #CapeMay #NewJersey . it seemed appropriate for the song

On Sunday, I turned off the news.
    Turned off my phone.
And I wrote this song about a lazy Sunday.
But in the back of my mind,
I still knew the world was burning.

  2. Lanternflies, considered invasive and destructive of crops, are swarming along the U.S. East Coast. At Cape May, NJ this week, we discovered that Atlantic ghost crabs feast on #lanternflies, and we have the pictures to prove it.

  3. I don't think I could live in #CapeMay because I'd be very depressed at all the #invasive species. Clamatis vines smother entire fields of, ivy covers even the tallest trees, and now hordes of #SpottedLanternFlies are spreading through the area.

  15. Saltmarsh Shadows

While drifting through the final bends of the saltmarsh aboard the Osprey, I spotted a group of five Boat-tailed Grackles moving low through the reeds near the mouth of Jarvis Sound.

  16. Forster’s Tern Over Cape May Harbour

While scanning the skies above Cape May Harbour, I spotted a slender tern gliding past the boat. At first, I wasn’t sure which species I’d photographed—Caspian, Common, or Forster’s? Back at home, subtle field marks confirmed it was Forster’s Tern in breeding plumage. A life bird. One that taught me to look closer.

  17. Working the Dock

At the marina’s edge, the Ruddy Turnstones scurried along the green planks like tiny dockside inspectors.

  18. Buffleheads in Motion

My first sighting of Bufflehead during a boat tour in Cape May felt like trying to photograph wind over water. They moved fast, flew low, and never stopped.

  19. The Cormorants of Cape May

During a boat tour through the Cape May saltmarsh, I observed Double-crested Cormorants at rest, in flight, and in that transitional space between water and sky.

  24. For basically my entire life, I have wanted to see the aurora borealis. I have been at the right place and time many times, but weather did not cooperate. Now, I’ve returned to the place I was born, at the absolute southern tip of #NewJersey, on my birthday, and there it is! This is so amazing! I can’t even describe it! #CapeMay

  25. Who is watching whom? This fish crow decided to check us out as we were photographing a glossy ibis and a mallard with her ducklings on a beach marsh pond. Literally landed within two feet of my husband who, off-photo, is leaning on the same rail as the crow.

  26. Piping Plover chicks, unable to fly for about four weeks after hatching, are diligently tended by the parents. The little ones we had the joy of seeing were older and quite mobile but we still witnessed the parents putting themselves between beach walkers and their chicks, calling out warnings with their whistling ‘peep lo’ sounds.

  27. Seeing a pair of Piping Plovers and their three chicks was one of our anniversary birding trip highlights in Cape May. The adults are small, about 7 inches in length, and their chicks, which weigh about the equivalent of two pennies when they hatch, are tiny and super fast. One of the parents and two of the chicks are visible in this photo. They stand out a bit more against the wet sand and water than they do in dry sand. Special shoutout to the New Jersey Fish & Wildlife rangers who brought this special lifer opportunity to our attention.
