  1. Oh dear. As a #Brsk customer I've been migrated to #YouFibre, but now I'm getting marketing emails for the latter saying they'll buy me out of my current contract (with them) if I switch to them.

Nice to know that they offer 200Mbit for the same price I'm currently paying for 150 though, that's probably worth looking into. Only a 12 month contract so I should be able to escape before #VirginMedia, the new owners of YouFibre, screw everything up.

  6. RE: mastodon.social/@ispreview/116

As somebody who escaped #VirginMedia for #Brsk, I'm deeply unhappy about this news. Probably won't jump ship immediately but I anticipate rising prices, worse customer support, and more web filtering over the next few years.

I'm just hoping they don't go the whole hog and remove #IPv6 support which Virgin still doesn't have.

  11. Then the next step will be my home server, which just has a single IPv6 address assigned to it by the #Brsk router.

The router provides a single #IPv6 /64 for the LAN, but I know there's a /56 or /48 routed to it. It might support Prefix Delegation, or I might have to look again at replacing the router...

  16. @penguin42 Are you on #Brsk? Seeing a lot of people complaining about this right now, and I can't reach the #Debian wiki currently.

  21. I signed up with brsk for broadband recently and I’ve been very happy with the service. Installation took half an hour and the service was up and running instantly. Speeds are great and the upload is the same as the download. Prices are great and the reason I signed up.
If you are thinking of signing up you can use this referral code and we both get a £50 shopping voucher. brsk.uk/3XXS

  24. Looks like #Brsk is down in #Manchester and maybe further afield. Big spike at downdetector.co.uk/status/brsk/

Still, I've been with them a couple of years and this is the biggest hiccup I've seen. Plus it's Friday evening and time to go and touch grass.

  29. (It's also nice to know that #Brsk gives an #IPv6 /48 to each customer, as is proper; the ISP-provided router just farms out a single /64 and I didn't know what was happening at the provider end)

  34. Speaking of, I just noticed that #brsk have asked me to connect my laptop directly to the fibre ONT box, i.e. exposed directly to the Internet rather than behind the router.

It's to diagnose a potential problem with the router, but I would have hoped that they would have asked me to ensure that I had a host firewall enabled first...

  39. @inabox I had a frustrating conversation with #Brsk technical support where I pointed out their router doesn't hand out #IPv6 addresses for DNS servers, so it can't be used for IPv6-only setups without hardcoding the addresses from their website.

I would have thought this would be something they'd want to fix but I couldn't get past the customer support agent to someone who understood the problem :'(
