#writerscoffeeclub Do you go to fan conventions or similar?

I enjoy these in moderation, they're not cheap, and I'm going to #BristolCon in the UK because I get to visit my mum and get free accommodation.

They're useful to mix with people who I feel are somewhat my tribe, do some thinking, get some silliness. And network, shill the books, etc.

I would draw a distinction between the big commercial comicons and the fan driven events.

I attended #bristolcon on Oct 29, and they presented me with this wooden box inscribed with our names and the BristolCon logo, and holding a bottle of Harvey's Bristol Cream sherry and the two matching wine glasses. Then, I was guest of honour at #novacon51 this weekend, and the committee gave me this beautiful bottle of whisky from @forest_gin. The bottle is one of a limited edition of 200 and is made of polished black porcelain with a papercut by the artist Georgia Low glazed with real gold!
