    Walker played a pivotal role in the 1963 campaign to desegregate Birmingham.

    Along with recruiting protesters and coordinating boycotts, he also deciphered what he called #MLK's "chicken-scratch writing" on the handwritten notes of the "Letter from Birmingham Jail"
