  3. In all my wisdom I accidentally left "auto delete after 2 years" activated and lost all my sweet #bioswale posts. Going to have to repair that damage.

This is a "rain train" - a series of rain gardens at descending elevations, connected by a concrete trough, which is fed from rooftop water.

It's designed to handle up to 135mm of rain per 24 hour period - a one in fifty year event in St Paul, Minnesota where this is located. Pretty innovative!

Must look awesome when it's raining

  8. Another interesting #Bioswale article, this one delving into some ways to incorporate #bioswales into parking strip landscaping for both beauty and functionality.

While this article about #Portland parking strips does date back to 2011, I think most if not all the info is still accurate and a bonus is a distinct lack of stupid pop-up ads and subscription demands.

  13. This was an excellent article explaining the reasons why 'green infrastructure' such as the venerable #bioswale are more important than ever to the future of city planning.

Also thanks to the Helen Clark foundation for authoring a report to try to drive policy changes.

  18. @webuiltthiscity BTW the water park is more "blue-green" infrastructure. The water drains into the ground - along with storm water. You can see overflow sewers in the lower gardens behind if the water gets too high.

Used to be a gas station, owned at one time by the family of a celebrated Quebec singer-songwriter: montreal.ca/en/places/place-de
