And told you must not stand up or get out of your chair without nursing staff assisting.

They use a hoist. You get bruised by being banged into things.

But you are no longer at risk of getting injured in a fall.

Is this a success?

Australian values as seen in commercialised aged care in Australia.

If your brain gets injured or diseased such that you have violent episodes then you will AIUI be medicated, into a stupor if necessary, & be put in an aged care facility.

Compare this treatment with that received by a violent person who is held still to be competent.

They get to keep their consciousness intact and are controlled by prison guards and bars.

Anyone heard how the desecration of Australian war graves in Gaza by the state of Israel is turning out?

The ongoing genocide in Gaza and the ethnic cleansing in the West Bank and Lebanon are clearly not going to be confronted by Anthony Albanese and Penny Wong.
So that leaves the graves of long dead soldiers for them to nail our national pride to.

I'm thinking that what's happening around this is another aspect of the value system that's given us #RoboDebt, #InstitutionalisedChildAbuse, #ClimateChange, #ScottMorrison, #CovidFreedomMarches, a #HousingCrisis, #DomesticViolence, #DrugAbuse, #Suicide, and entrenched harassment, discrimination and bullying.

#AustralianValues aren't all they're cracked up to be. And are producing fair bit of misery.

Back to Option C. "no one wanting to visit them".

Folk sought to increase communication between Fam&Friends and Aged Care residents.
Made an app.
Technically a success.
But it appeared to them that Fam&Friends actually didn't want to communicate with the elderly person in care.

Am asking, "In purely selfish things, what do you get for you out of interacting with geriatric / frail / senile / institutionalised aged folk?"

Anything at all?

Looking at #AustralianValues.

In the light of #AgedCare both commercialised and #AgingInPlace.

Claim is that some 50% of institutionalised aged care recipients don't get even one visitor a year.

It's been pointed out that many of these folk will have made choices that; A. had them lacking a support community, B. had them with no friends/family who they wanted to visit them, and/or, C. have no one wanting to visit them.

Their choices form part of Australia's values.

This is an old Facebook post from a 'No' campaigner. Some, it seems, saw themselves as valiant defenders of Australian values.

Though I don't agree, I can respect that.
