A huge f’ing pile of email deserves a Huge Arker follow-up!
#andersonValley BBA imperial #stout - oak and bourbon opener with a coffee and dark chocolate body and a lasting boozy finish.
#itsAlwaysStoutSeason #craftBeer @beersofmastodon
P.s. I have no idea what an “arker” is… but at 15.5% I don’t seem to care…

The legend... returns! Red Tail Ale was among the first of its kind in the late 1980's, sold in 22oz bottles at Liquor Barn and some Safeway stores. Boont Amber was a surprise find on a long weekend in Mendocino County; I came back with bottles from both breweries. Over the subsequent 35 years, Anderson Valley chose to grow modestly, and remains locally owned to this day. Mendocino brewing tried to grow aggressively, trading quality for volume and flaming out in 2018. So it was a surprise and delight to see Fogbelt Brewing bringing back the original Red Tail.
Both are solid examples of the style. Red Tail is more hopped, with a mild nose, sweeter up front, and more bitter through the finish. Boont Amber is darker with a much stronger caramel malt nose and flavor, considerably more complex IMHO, and smoother through to the finish. I think folks raised on IPAs would lean to the new Red Tail; those of us who lean towards German malty ales will likely favor the Boont.

Hoping that all will be safe and keep their homes and businesses in the #grangefire near #boonville in the #AndersonValley.

Ignore the Population signs on the road in this part of the country. On a beautiful August Saturday evening in rural #mendocinocounty we all come out of the woods for a great evening under the stars with friends. (Please don’t ask me why there’s any beer in there, because I have no idea.) 🍇🍷🥂🍾 #AndersonValley #norcal

Finishing the week with my last can of #andersonValley “bourbon barrel stout”
I put that in quotes because this is just a weak #stout “malt beverage” overall with nary a hint of barrel age flavor. Looks are deceiving- passing on another purchase here.

Anderson Valley Barn
The Anderson Valley, is ust over two hours north of San Francisco.
It's well worth the drive to this quit little area in southern Mendocino County.
You won't find much in Anderson Valley and that is part of the charm. A couple of small villages, a few campgrounds, and a number of wineries, and a brewery. The folks at Gowan’s have been farming apples at Anderson Valley for over 140 years, with many trees over 110 years old. They make some lovely hard cider. If you are lucky and come to the orchard, you can get some of their 7 year aged cider. But you can also order some of their cider with Pinot grapes concoction with is quite lovely. #cider #hardcider #andersonvalley #philo https://www.gowansheirloomcider.com/

#RIP #Wine #Merlot #NapaValley #Duckhorn
RIP #MargaretDuckhorn. 😦
I was a member of the Duckhorn Vineyard for many years but I was and am mainly a fan of their #AndersonValley #PinotNoir -- #Goldeneye.
Have tasted their Merlots which are good, but I've never bought them them because there are so many varietals that you have to focus on the ones you like most.
For me, those are #SauvigonBlanc, #PinotNoir, #CabernetSauvignon & #Zinfindal.
