A while ago I was at a bottle shop - chain of franchise stores - with a super helpful owner. Interested in what I was looking for... And dropping info that he could order lots of things that weren't on the shelves.
We also talked about aging certain types of #CraftBeer... Which led to him asking: "but surely you don't drink brews past their best before date?" I sure do, mate.
Opening this Wilderness #BarrelAged #Stout reminded me of that conversation 😁

Dark and toasty with a hoppy kick on the finish like a black IPA. Creamy oat body belies its stout parentage.

If you expected something subtle, think again!
Pours like motor oil, thick like chocolate syrup with extra vanilla. Not so much cake as topping. Heavy duty and very sweet, not much coconut though

My wife bought one of those Dubai chocolate bars for $8. It was good but not $8 good.
Of course, I’d bought a can of #abominationBrewing Dubai Chocolate Midnight Snack to compare!
Rich cocoa chocolate with a dry mouth feel, nutty background and a curiously flat body. A little sweet, a little bitter on the finish.

Deeply oaky, chocolate and molasses in a somewhat thin body, bourbon finish with a lasting fermented malty note. Complex flavors, Black Dirt barrels
