In 2018 he invited me to stay on his boat in the Bahamas for 3 weeks. It was amazing. We sailed from Georgetown down to Nassau, stopping along the way. He taught me the basics of sailing, how to read maps and plot courses, how to actually sail the boat, how to use the radio and deal with potential emergencies. One night we were hit by a huge storm (that caused so much swell that it literally changed the colour of the water overnight) which took out some of the navigation gear when lightning hit the main mast.
We spent 3 weeks swimming in the ocean, laughing, crying, talking politics (including a conversation in which he asked me what I thought the world needed to "fix" itself, and I answered that it would have to be something like a zombie apocalypse... a year later "covid has entered the chat"), and tipsily playing Guitar Hero.
The day before I left we stopped at a tiny island where people who visit spell out their names with rocks on the beach. He insisted we spell out "ABY". When he sailed back there almost 4 years later, my name was still there with only one rock missing. He replaced it.
I've always felt cared for and protected by him. I love him, and am loved by him.. and am a better person for it.

Quel style ! Certains passages sont pure poésie.
Je n'étais préparé ni au sujet ni à l'autrice. J'ai donc compris au fil de la lecture pourquoi de nombreuses pages manquent de cohérence (je n'en dis pas plus) au point de provoquer un certain embarras chez moi. Que penser quand toute raison s'absente ?
