I made some of the popular #postpartum freezer #food. One being oat balls.
They're not worth it for me. They're tasty but so much effort to restock. That ratio of effort (making them and dishes/cleanup) to yum is off for me.
Our overnight oat recipe is easy/fast and filling and I think it fills the meal/snack niche of the oat balls.
- 1/2 cup quick oats
- 1/2 cup milk (we use whole)
- 2 - 5 tbps Greek yogurt - 10%+ mg if possible (real measure-with-your-heart ingredient)
- 1 scoop protein powder (this is the flavor - feel free to do half one flavor, half another, or whatever pleases your heart) (alternatively you could use 1 - 2 tbsp pudding powder)
Mix all ingredients together, store in the fridge. It's ready to eat in a few hours and I find it keeps well for ~3 days. My husband makes sure I always have one in the fridge. Toppings optional. Fruit, chocolate chips, nuts, sprinkles, whatever.
With more milk and a blender, this could probably be a shake. I don't know where I read about it (for sure was marketed as overnight oats) but we've been making this for over 10 years.
