I'm done day 12 of my advent hat with plenty of hours left to work on it while watching the finale of Finding Mr. Christmas season 2. (If you enjoy Hallmark holiday movies and reality shows, check it out.)
And I've validated an annoying Salesforce package (why does intelligence view have to be on to deploy?). Which hopefully means an easier workday tomorrow.
It's only noon. So far a good day.

Finished the gusset on advent sock 2 and I'm done day 20 of the stripes. At this rate I'll probably have a pair of advent socks this weekend and be casting on an advent hat.

Wove in the ends of my right sock last night. I'm re-knitting the cuff for the left sock today. Then I'll be starting day 13 of my stripes.
It's nice to be this far ahead of my advent. I have enough yarn to also knit an advent sock head hat. Maybe I'll get that in before x-mas so my head and toes are cozy.

Need to kitchner my toe and the first advent sock is done. I should have knit this in 66 stitch rounds instead of 64, maybe adding a row or two to my gusset, but it otherwise feels great. If I measured correctly, I would have started the heel two stripes earlier. I ended up doing 12 rows of my contrasting white before starting the toe. Oops.

Knit 3 days (6 stripes) of my advent already. I'm loving the colors so much. And the yarn itself feels lovely. This is gonna be a good pair of socks.

I'm knitting advent socks this year. I cast on the cuff last night in the contrasting mini. Been doing other crafts all month leading up to this and I'm so so happy to be back to my yarn and needles.
Trying shortie circulars for the first time has been a choice though. I didn't realize how much of my knitting was done by pinky fingers. I use a Norwegian purl and I'm really not enjoying them for that. I'm hoping that changes with practice. But I think I'll enjoy stockinette when I get to the stripes.

Was thinking yet again about blogging. Figured fuck it, it's going on the neocities site I haven't touched in 2 years. So I updated my site a little. Gives me an easy foundation for just popping some writing on the web.
Day is too warm to be on the computer. I'm going back to reading The Wall by Marlen Haushofer (translated by Shaun Whiteside).

I'm watching Killing Eve for the first time. I'm only two episodes in and I'm loving it so much. 11/10.

Bread pudding is a wonderful food. Freezer burnt hot dog buns from last year? Perfect.
-
Been watching Twin Peaks. Naturally our breakfast date today had to be getting pie and coffee.

I'm about to tubular bind off a sock (x-mas stocking) and I constantly come back to this video. It's a hidden gem with under 100k views in 7 yrs old.
If you're tackling tubular bind off for the first time, I highly highly recommend Stitches n Scraps.

We're now able to build a house. It'll be on family land so our cost is just house building and will allow us to be near the people that need us most. Which means we get to stay in the province! We thought we were completely priced out and were struggling with what our next step would be. My job is very mobile but my husband's is fairly specialized and in-person work, making moving a juggling act. It's still expensive to build but less expensive than an equivalent sized space that is already built. And no strata fees.
The idea started as a bit of a joke but has turned into a building permit.

For my Christmas gift my husband is repairing and painting one of his dad's old metal toolboxes. (We were talking of a basket vs toolbox and it was offered up.) I'll use it for hand sewing and crafting notions. I'm super excited and have named it Fran. Now I have to decide on a new exterior color. The removable section inside will be red but I don't want it to all be red.
What's a good color for a Fran? Thoughts and suggestions welcome.

I caught a chest cold and was in bed most of yesterday. I should take it easy today too, I still feel it. But this morning I'm finally getting around to the new And That's Why We Drink and folding the hang dry laundry. Getting at least one chore done while listening to my chore podcast makes me feel a little more normal.

Today I learned how to change tires on a car. One important part was the rotation direction indicator on the wheel. We forgot about it until our final check and had to swap some tires around as a result. At least that'll stick in my memory. :blobfoxlaughsweat:

Since I caught up on And That's Why We Drink, it has become a podcast for listening during weekend chores. My new workout podcast is Beach Too Sandy, Water Too Wet. This is not a great choice because I snort laugh in the middle of a set far too often. I might need to choose another podcast. No, I didn't drop a weight in the gym today.

In the gym I've been watching videos on common place books. It tickles an itch I get this time of year for notebooks and writing and organization. Also a little nostalgia for Lemon Snicket.
It also has me considering using paper for immediate thoughts or collecting and Obsidian for a long term collection and second draft type space. I haven't tried merging paper and tech beyond calendars but I think this could work well for all my writing itches.

Did an exercise this morning that I've never done at the gym as an adult: aerobics. I did some in high school as part of gym class but none since. I have two left feet and questionable knees, which has me a little more self conscious.
But after this workout I can confidently say senior videos are the shit and should not be gatekeeped (gatekept?). How dare it look easy and then make me trip and sweat. Bonus: nothing too hard on my crackley slippery knees.

Close to 1/3 of all BC registered voters have voted early. I hope the rest vote today.
BC transit is free today and you can vote at any polling station. (As far as I can tell TransLink is not free today.)

These moccasins have been well loved. Before throwing them out, I'm taking the beads and a strip of leather that has no glue or other elements affecting it. I didn't think I'd get to start this until tonight but a power outage blessed me with a few hours of tech-free time. Now to learn how to clean/maintain suede so I can prep the piece I take for its next life.

Here is my #flaxLightSweater so far. I have to frog the last 8 rows because I realized my gauge is a bit different than my swatch due to the color work and maybe mismeasurement. Oops. 🤷♀️
I need to continue #knitting the increases from before the last 8 rows for about 2 more inches if I want to wear the sweater.
It's a bit stripey-er than expected but it's super soft and I love the colors.
