  1. Happy birthday to my 2021 GTI!

I took delivery on May 31, 2021, and we've been fast friends ever since.

(Also pictured, my beloved 1990 BMW 325i convertible I sold to help make the down payment on our house. I miss it still.)

In 1994, I was 41 and still in denial to myself about being gay. Michael was the first gay man I ever saw I could identify with. I'm almost exactly his age. Later that fall I looked in a mirror and came out to myself. 30 years ago this coming October 8. Good for both of us! And thank you, Tales of the City.

  7. I've loved Laura Linney ever since the PBS showing of Tales of the City in the 90s.

This is a charming conversation with her in the New York Times. Gift link

  8. We decided to make brunch at home today instead of going out. So while Craig is at church, I made a yogurt banana raisin bran coffee cake as a surprise. It's just out of the oven, and smells wonderful! (Recipe in comments.

This is #WindowsXP on my work laptop from the William #Wrigley Company (yes, of Doublemint and Juicy Fruit fame) where I was the senior advanced technology analyst in the IT department.

  11. Out for a walk just now, and saw this beautiful late-afternoon sky. Weather enthusiasts, these look like lenticular clouds, are they? It's a gorgeous desert wintertime sky regardless. 67 degrees F, 19 C at about 4:20 PM.

I remember watching it when it aired. Today it would be tame, then it was a little shocking, voyeur-like, to watch back then.

Lance Loud went on to be out and an actor, most notably to me as one of the bitchy queens in the serial adaptation of #TalesOfTheCity by #ArmisteadMaupin

  13. "PS" was the final page of every issue of #RoadAndTrack magazine. A #ClassicCars discussion of Lucas electrics reminded me of my favorite: "Why do the English drink warm beer? Because they have Lucas refrigerators." I owned a 1973 #TriumphSpitfire and knew the sweet pain of Lucas electrics firsthand.

I found a compilation, "Best of PS," published in England in 1998 and just got my copy.

  19. Not that #SiriusXM was very appreciative of the talent they had in #JimLadd

First, they cut his show from Monday-Friday back to Monday-only. Then just last month, #DeepTracks lost its featured channel 27 position and was relegated to purgatory on channel 308. He always deserved better; there are many thousands of us left who just lost an important friend.
