  1. Mandy, Indiana - Urgh

Long awaited follow-on to I've seen a way - along the same industrial/dance/noise lines as before, but MORE, and better. Most lyrics are still in French to challenge your comprehension, but as before, they go with the music...clearly cathartic for them.

    Not for everyone...but pretty great.

First single video released a little while ago:

  6. Laura Marling - Manchest Albert Hall 2025 - Patterns in Repeat

Laura Marling, in concert. The first half is her, solo, with her guitar doing material from her career. The 2nd half adds a choir and strings, doing Patterns in Repeat in full.

She's in great voice, and while the material in this form is a little monochromatic, the songs are great.

  7. Dexter Gordon - Dexter Calling

You know, I've decided I'm in agreement with Jerome Sabbagh—hard panning is the way to go for jazz combos.

This recent Tone Poet rerelease is from a 1961 session with Gordon (tenor), Kenny Drew (piano), Paul Chambers (bass), and Philly Joe Jones (drums)...a definitely "you are there" recording, save for the traditional Van Gelder "piano under a blanket".

  12. J. Geils Band - "Live" - Full House

This is the first live J. Geils Band album, released in 1972, and less well known than Blow Your Face Out from 1975 (which people would play *incessantly* during my High School years).

The Boston-based band was a mostly an R&B band with Peter Wolf (who I used to see at Craigie on Main all the time) as its incredibly charismatic leader.

Nice new mastering by Kevin Grey and typically flawless pressing.

  13. Amusingly, after playing A Love Supreme (which had only been recorded with Rudy Van Gelder seven months before), the promoters requested that they play "more familiar material" the following nights.

    If only they knew.

A bit more space here to say that Charly was able to reconstruct the full A Love Supreme, which takes up 3 sides of the 4LP set.

  18. John Coltrane Quartet - France 1965: The Complete Concerts

This is going to be a Coltrane-heavy year, given his centenary, and RSD26 has a few releases to mark the occasion.

This 4LP set documents the two concerts the Quartet did in France during their week-lone stint in Europe.

This is well known for being the quartet's *only* live, full recording of A Love Supreme (reconstructed by Charly).

  24. Wire - Read & Burn 03

This is where the original configuration of Wire came to an end, with the departure of Bruce Gilbert in 2004...released on vinyl for the first time.

I was fortunate to see them during the Send tour (the last with Gilbert) at the Middle East.

Anyway, it's Wire, it's great. Here's a video of 23 Years Too Late:
