Geils Band. It's widly considered his best with some blues, blues-rock, soul -- even a little country and folk. Peter didn't give a shit about radio airplay so it's a pure, organic,…

It followed their monster live album, Blow Your Face Out and the band felt they needed a flex in their sound. The title track took them and fans to a new place -- over nine minutes of jazzy, Latin/rock fusion with a hint of gospel. Guest musicians helped them get there -- Cissy Houston does some…

J. Geils Band - "Live" - Full House
This is the first live J. Geils Band album, released in 1972, and less well known than Blow Your Face Out from 1975 (which people would play *incessantly* during my High School years).
The Boston-based band was a mostly an R&B band with Peter Wolf (who I used to see at Craigie on Main all the time) as its incredibly charismatic leader.
Nice new mastering by Kevin Grey and typically flawless pressing.

The J. Geils Band release Love Stinks on January 28, 1980. While some hardcore fans of the J. Geils' R&B-influenced blues rock were initially skeptical of the new direction, the title track became one of the band's most recognizable songs, later notably covered by Joan Jett and Adam Sandler in films. 40 years ago this week, "Lights Out" by #PeterWolf entered the #Top40 at 34. It peaked at 12 on 08 Sep 1984. I don't remember the song, but the singer seemed familiar. Turns out, he sang lead vocals for the #JGeilsBand, then pursued a reasonably successful solo career. Who knew? https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oSTkybe7IaE #1980s #MusicHistory #MusicVideo

Love's gonna find you, yes, it is
You just can't hide
You'll hear it call
Your heart will fall
Then love will fly
It's gonna soar"
