WIR - Vien+
Back when Robert Gotobed left Wire after Manscape, they owed some albums to Mute, and so WIR was born. They released one LP (The First Letter) and an EP: Vien.
Wire always does something interesting for RSD, and this year, they released the Vien EP that had previously only been available on CD and digitally.
But they didn't stop there. They re-recorded So and Slow and added it—a nice touch, and a good version, too (more like the live one)—Vien+.

Also picked up the RSD reissue of Paparoach - Crooked Teeth.
This one sounds lovely and I expected it to be cut hot and too loud. However it’s not and has some good dynamics allowing some decent volume but keeping all the highs and lows with a sweet mid frequency.

Wow. Just wow. I found this unexpected gem over the weekend. And the record is bright transparent red to boot.

My final RSD purchase this year imported from the US as this artist was not in the UK list unlike last year. Limited to 1500 copies and done really well.
Very Underrated band of their time from 1996

Laura Marling - Manchest Albert Hall 2025 - Patterns in Repeat
Laura Marling, in concert. The first half is her, solo, with her guitar doing material from her career. The 2nd half adds a choir and strings, doing Patterns in Repeat in full.
She's in great voice, and while the material in this form is a little monochromatic, the songs are great.

Amusingly, after playing A Love Supreme (which had only been recorded with Rudy Van Gelder seven months before), the promoters requested that they play "more familiar material" the following nights.
If only they knew.
A bit more space here to say that Charly was able to reconstruct the full A Love Supreme, which takes up 3 sides of the 4LP set.

John Coltrane Quartet - France 1965: The Complete Concerts
This is going to be a Coltrane-heavy year, given his centenary, and RSD26 has a few releases to mark the occasion.
This 4LP set documents the two concerts the Quartet did in France during their week-lone stint in Europe.
This is well known for being the quartet's *only* live, full recording of A Love Supreme (reconstructed by Charly).

Wire - Read & Burn 03
This is where the original configuration of Wire came to an end, with the departure of Bruce Gilbert in 2004...released on vinyl for the first time.
I was fortunate to see them during the Send tour (the last with Gilbert) at the Middle East.
Anyway, it's Wire, it's great. Here's a video of 23 Years Too Late:
and an essay about the track by Colin Newman

Note, too: there is an English Settlement preview during the performance, too: Moulding's Ball & Chain.
That makes some sense, given how much it sounds like it would have fit on Black Sea...

XTC - Live Boots - Emerald City, Cherry Hill, New Jersey 17th Apr 1981
This is the peak of XTC's time touring, between the release of Black Sea and English Settlement, and before they stopped touring completely a year or so later (just before they were coming to Brown, damn it).
Anyway, despite the "bootleg" quality of the sound, they're killing it, playing a mix of tracks from their first four (and nothing from the Lure of Salvage, fortunately).

It’s funny how most of the people with metal bandshirts holding a KPop Demon Hunters LP in their hand. #recordstoreday #rsd #rsd26

Got the list ready yesterday, I'm prepared for this year 🙂↕️
*I'm not buying all these, lol. Just being cautious and came up with too many fallbacks.
