Currently reading On the Tail of a Comet, a #biography of Frank Buchman, founder of the #OxfordGroups (later Moral Rearmament) and from which #AlcoholicsAnonymous (#AA) sprung (the former was explicitly #Christian, the latter #Spiritual). Fascinating and confusing.

I gave #WorldBrain's #Memex another try but it still doesn't feel right for me. imho, it feels like the browser extension is trying to do too much heavy lifting and that a local native application or a hosted SaaS solution is required.
For example, I tried importing my Diigo library into Memex and it was progressing at a snail's pace (it did seem to pull in highlights, but I'm unsure about annotations and didn't seem to pull tags).

Seems there are plenty of options, e.g. #GnuCash, #HomeBank, #MoneyManagerEx, #KMyMoney, #FireflyIII...

today I'm thinking about #PersonalFinance #software. I've been using #YNAB for a number of years but I'm not a huge fan of zero-based #budgeting, at least not on a monthly basis. Curious what others are using for #financialsoftware
Ideally #OpenSource (free as in speech, not necessarily as in beer), if it is able to pull transactions automatically from banking sites that is ideal - but I'll do manual exports if need be. 🙂

does anyone know what happened to #gigablast? It has been offline for at least a day or two. I don't see #MattWells on Mastodon.

Coincidentally, #WorldBrain just sent out an update email on #Memex, might give it another try.

I'm sure I'll run out of #questions soon 😂
Curious what folks are using for highlighting and #annotation? I've been using #Diigo for many years (10? 15?) and occasionally look for alternatives.
I use #Raindrop which offers some of the same functionality, I'm aware of #Hypothesis but appears a bit more limited than I'd like.
I've tried WorldBrain's #Memex in the past but it was never quite where I wanted and now appears to be pivoting.
Ideal solution is, of course, #OpenSource. 😃

For those who are interested, it appears that #ErnstBloch's The Principle of #Hope was an influential work on this topic (written from a secular, neo-Marxist perspective) and that this in turn was a key influence on #JurgenMoltmann's #Theology of Hope (written from a Protestant Christian perspective).

recent favorite web #discovery: https://math.meta.stackexchange.com/questions/5020/mathjax-basic-tutorial-and-quick-reference
It's a nice cheat sheet on a lot of #LaTeX / #MathJax #markup for creating #mathematical notation.
I get a strange pleasure from typing in the somewhat arcane markup to create beautiful mathematic formulas.
(I mainly use this when taking notes in #Obisidan)

I really appreciate #Bing's #Search AI because it cites as opposed to #Google's #Bard and #OpenAI. This makes it somewhat usable for me. I can't trust one of these large #LLMs to tell me the truth otherwise.
In fact, I've repeatedly asked OpenAI for web resources / books related to specific topics and it invariably #hallucinates them.
Edit: meant to include this link: https://searchengineland.com/google-explains-why-bard-rarely-lists-citations-and-links-to-content-creators-394635
(imho, a primary school student who didn't cite sources wouldn't be allowed this excuse in a paper)

Doing #good can feel #hopeless, #futile. This #quote from The Twin Towers film resonated with me:
Theoden: "So much death. What can [people] do against such reckless #hate?"
Aragorn: "Ride out with me. Ride out and meet them."- #LOTR: The Twin Towers (#movie)
Interestingly Theoden doesn't catch the vision. He focuses on personal glory, Aragorn continues to desire the greater good. Despite the impure motivations...well, if you haven't seen/read it, I'll not ruin it for you.

in case anyone is also looking for articles covering using the composition approach with #Pinia here are the two I've found thus far:
https://coderpad.io/blog/development/how-to-handle-state-management-in-vue-using-pinia/ -
I'm looking for good examples of using #Pinia in #Vue using the composition style rather than the options style. Curious if anyone has some good pointers? Most of the articles I've found use the options style...and the official docs switch back/forth between options/composition a bit too frequently for my tastes.
(Okay, I just found two...right after posting the question :-P But still, send me anything you've got!)

I'm a sucker for #StateOf posts. Lee Robinson (of #Vercel) has a concise article on the state of #databases for #serverless and #edge I enjoyed: https://leerob.io/blog/backend
