Meet Phineas Draem, Proprietor of Phin's Finds.
He was never a warrior. Never an adventurer. Never a thief. He was a salesman.
Phin's Finds occupied a crooked alley in the kind of neighborhood that doesn't appear on city maps. Cramped, cluttered, lit poorly on purpose. The sort of shop where adventurers found oddities, nobles found things they couldn't buy anywhere reputable, and scholars found things they weren't supposed to touch. Phineas didn't steal or pillage. Everything in his stock passed through someone else's hands first. He simply had a gift for being the last person those hands sold to.
He built his business on charm, patience, and a network of whispers that stretched further than anyone knew. He out-negotiated rivals, cultivated desperate sellers, and kept careful track of who owed him what and who might need something quietly acquired. Over a lifetime of that work, card by card, he assembled his crowning piece -- a nearly complete Deck of Many Things. Not a replica. Not a partial draw. The real thing, almost whole.
Then one night it was gone. The stock too. Everything. Break-in, betrayal, curse -- he doesn't know. He may never know. What he knows is that he woke up with no money, no goods, no shop, and no status. Only the road.
He is not built for the road. He knows this. But desperation has a way of expanding a man's skill set, and it turns out that everything Phineas spent decades perfecting -- reading people, running networks, saying exactly the right thing at exactly the right moment, hiring the right middlemen, maintaining appearances under pressure -- translates surprisingly well to staying alive in places that would like to kill him. He ducks behind cover. He throws out distractions. He cuts through minds with words when steel would be slower. There is a hidden dagger, just in case. He has not had to use it yet. He intends to keep that record.
He is not chasing glory or gold. He is chasing stock. Artifacts, relics, cursed objects, forgotten magic. Anything with a story and a market. He wants his deck back. He wants his shop back. He wants to be, once again, the black market's most indispensable dealer -- and he is willing to go find the inventory himself.

What if your #videogame about a (fantasy) #bard was all about stories? You need to gather information. It could be a stealth section where you move around an event, trying to see as much as possible. Or a detective section where you examine a place where an event has already happened. Or a social interaction where you need to figure out how to get as much of a story as possible from people. Then you convert it into a tale/song/letter/etc. and “sell” it to your listeners/patrons.

@NicksWorld @DavidGoldfield To be completely fair, I don’t think #NLS and #BARD were involved in the library grant cancellations, though I seem to remember reading that some of the state libraries could have been impacted. Good thing the cancellations got reversed in any event, though.

Looks as if #NLS is out of wack again. I sure wish they'd figure out what's wrong and get our #BARD system back on track. You can read what titles they have recently added, but you can't download. We never used to have these issues so they clearly have done something that is causing this ongoing challenge

Bard ran away with it, but only cited 13.6% of the RCTs. ChatGPT scored 2.4%, and Chatsonic 0%.

It's #Majestic #Manderville time, part five!! And I've still got some time before 6.55! So here we go again for the penultimate time.
The second-to-last set of three #relic weapons for my non-favorite and I-don't-really-play-them-that-often jobs have been acquired: #Bard, #Warrior, and #Dark #Knight.
The bard's #harp #bow is beautiful. The #arrow in use is a little thick around the shaft, but that's OK. I do love all the feathers on the bow, and the metal looks super shiny!
The dark knight's #greatsword looks great. It's so dark, and I love everything about its sharp edges and blade's design.
The warrior's #bardiche looks pretty badass too. It looks nothing like an actual bardiche, since a bardiche is actually a #polearm that only looks like an #axe, but it still looks great. It looks like it's on fire! If I were as mad as a warrior becomes in battle, this is exactly the kind of weapon I'd love to swing around.

First, the #bard! Honestly, the best thing about the bard is the fact that you can perform music on it. But the second best thing has to be this lovely bow.
Every bow comes pre-installed with a magical arrow surrounded with a silvery flourish aura. There's feathers on the back and birds all over. I'm especially a fan of the little bird at the top facing forward like the figurehead of a ship.
Sing songs, or stab your enemies from a distance! The choice is yours. Or, if you're bi about it, why not do both!
